CLIP DESCRIPTION:
The Mouse alters the factory to make string cheese.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Gore Verbinski, the TV-commercials director responsible for the Budweiser frogs, directed this Adam Rifkin screenplay about two brothers (Nathan Lane and Lee Evans) who inherit a string factory and a decaying country home after the death of their father (the late William Hickey, in his last role). After moving in, they learn that the house has historical architectural importance and is valued in the millions. However, they are constantly tormented by a mouse within the walls. They engage in cartoon-like combat against the rodent, but it manages to outwit the brothers in successive situations. Both live and animatronic mice portray the title role, and some scenes assume the mouse's point of view. The film is dedicated to William Hickey.
CREDITS:
TM & © Dreamworks (1997)
Cast: Lee Evans, Nathan Lane
Director: Gore Verbinski
Producers: Bruce Cohen, Tony Ludwig, Alan Riche
Screenwriter: Adam Rifkin

A short and simple ending to one of my favourite childhood films with a very deep meaning behind it. Throughout the entire movie, the brothers were bickering at one another while trying to get rid of the mouse, so nothing worked because they were focused on themselves rather on one another, which caused everything to derail into one big mess, but when they started to collaborate together, they saw how good it feels to succeed in life with someone else helping you out by your side, knowing you're not alone. Without something to tie you to others and connect you to family or friends, you'll always end up in trouble. "A world without string is chaos".

Figuring out the true meaning behind a movie is the most challenging and fun to some people. Heck, from what I've seen, it made sense. They've both struggled with their respective careers and have found themselves bickering amongst each other due to their past as brothers. They wanted to secure their future financially, but have made questionable means to do so. By trying to sell the house financially, and there was the fact of the string factory they've inherited. The mouse became a foil because it lived in that house where their father used to live in. I don't know about the mice behind the reincarnation of the brothers' father, as I've didn't even know if their dad was that smart. I just assumed that it was a highly intelligent mouse that probably bore witness to the old man's final days and became only a foil to make the brothers realize something that's really important.

I find it cute that the mouse decided to give Ernie and Lars a happy ending by opening up a cheese string ball factory for them after flooding their house considering that it shows that the mouse wasn't heartless and did an act of kindness after realizing that Ernie and Lars were miserable without a home! =)

Doubt it. The house had no real sentimental value to them. It’s whole purpose was to be sold so Lars would have money to invest in keeping the factory running and Ernie to open a new restraunt. With the string cheese business both brothers get what they want so it would be pointless to spend an astronomical sum to rebuild it

They're perfectly worthy of their title. No, I'm not saying the movie sucked. I'm just saying that it's their job to point out what they consider to be negativities in a film. In my personal opinion, they're just cheap hacks that don't have anything better to do than try to prevent other people from enjoying films. They're trying to make everybody as lame as they are and the industry would be better off without them. That's why they're called 'movie critics' and not 'movie praisers'.

Not possible, because the father and the mouse were alive at the same time. If you re-watch the scene where the Lawyer is first telling them about the house, he says 'you're father acquired it many years ago as payment for a dept. He never lived there, but it's interesting. It seems the pervious owner was found locked in a trunk in the attic." Then when the cops are explaining about the exterminator. "911 call. No voice, but we heard screaming in the background. We found him locked in a trunk in the attic." Either that one mouse has super intelligence and incredible longevity for a common brown mouse, or the mice pass their tricks on from one generation to the next. However, seeing as we only ever see the one mouse, I'm leaning toward the latter.

The movie made it pretty clear the mouse was abnormally intelligent. I think near the end he realized that, while he got his revenge on the brothers for kicking him out of his house, it meant they all wound up with nothing. Everybody lost when they all tried to get their own way; only through negotiation and collaboration did they find a new way forward that proved fruitful for everyone. It's a lesson our current era would do well to heed, I think. :)

I like to think that the rich guy that April ran off with earlier eventually broke up with her, and upon hearing how successful Lars is now tries to get him to take her back. But Lars, having finally learned how to stand up for himself, has had enough of her selfish crap, and tells her to get lost.

I now think that the mouse is the spirit of Charles Lyle LeRoux, he went insane making the house and inhabited it forever in the form of a mouse. After the house was destroyed he was forced to let go and finally made peace with himself and the brothers by showing them how to make string cheese.

The whole concluding theory of string cheese being the original manufactured idea of a house mouse is what makes this movie a one of a kind!! I absolutely love this ending because it gives a sense of realism as well as fantasy. The repeating concept of “String” that keeps all ties of the world together, including family, and even the faith of a little mouse, is some of the greatest storytelling imo.

I think it’s for the best. It works better as a Stand-alone film. A sequel or remake wouldn’t really have heart put into it, and it would have a bunch of woke nonsense within it, considering how Hollywood is today.
@SiouxW4rrior3856
@SiouxW4rrior3856 8 ай бұрын
@@SeasonalGFilms very true its pointless today for them to make a sequel because of like you said the toxic "wokeness" that Hollywood has become but if they had made a sequel during the early 2000s instead maybe it would have been great but not as great as the original
