page 2 = extreme mental fatigue. I expect this training to really pay off if I can do it regularly. The more I use your PDF's I'm in awe of not just your playing but also your ability to teach. You really are gifted. Also, my wife said you had a "really nice voice" ....her exact words. Of course I agree. :)

I can see this exercise table being an advantage to students of every level. This kind of exercise is often overlooked, as they are not as much fun as playing the pieces. I am guilty as charged. Thank you for sharing. Amazing work.

When I started learning, it is in my first lesson I was told not to repeat RH fingering and cross the string with wrong fingering. That's the RH rule from my excellent teacher. i notice that many guitarists, including well-known teachers, are not aware ot it.

This is much more logical then some of the similar exercises I've tried. Starting from the beginning using a different RH finger playing the accent is so important. I'm applying this exercise to playing baritone ukulele. (Had to stop playing CG because of arthritis. ).

Thank you so much, and again. I’m studying Haydn’ Quartet that has few string crossing while also staccatos in fast tempo. This video helps me to figure out the most efficient fingering. Thank you so much! By the way, I like your guitar, it has a beautiful rosette. Who is the luthier? If you don’t me asking.

Hey Merce! Great technical exercises as usual..will have to get the pdf. Seem something similar somewhere, Shearer perhaps? Too lazy to look it up :) , but yours looks more comprehensive really focusing on the alternating fingers while crossing the fretboard. Also found it useful to focus on alternating while doing scale warmups - believe the Segovia scales recommended all the permutations for all the scales.

Question when it comes to this. I seem to have trouble using my fingers like playing scales usually with my A and I fingers going up. To me it seems faster to land on my next string up using the same finger because even though I should alternate but because the finger is already going up anyways. So it seems easier to just glide my I finger that I just used to hit a note and just pull it up to the next string instead of using alterations of the fingers ..is this a bad form but my hand likes to do it out of being lazy I guess ??

Getting rid of the squeaky noise by lifting is a bit like violinists making the tiny jerk with the wrist every time they change bow direction. It becomes completely automatic .
