When i started archery i was gripping the bow like i was strangling it lol, and my shots was bad. Then i learned the proper technique. Ive seen some pro archers use wrist bands that attach the bow to the hand allowing the bow to just fall and not hit the floor. Like you said even the best have off days where they'll make a mistake, it happens, like in most sports your not always on your game.

Great tips!!! Most bows I don't hit my arm or wrist. My w@w black elk riser I hit my arm most times but not a bad arm hit. One thing I tried with this riser I stick my butt out , torso forward and the bows more angled so there is a little more distance from arm and string.. Helped me..

Yep.. once you learn to turn your elbow out in your form.... No more string slap. Sloppy form equals string slap. I think I have suffered slap around 4 times at the beginning... I learnt correct form quickly.😅

I've a brace height comparison for you - i have two bows - one has a normal alu riser with border limbs, which have a much lower brace height than is usual, the other is a beginner wooden, non-ilf training bow with normal brace height. I never get slap with the border limbs and do with the standard ones....

That's interesting 🤔, my guess is the trainer bow probably has a much thicker grip area ( that's very common). This can change your grip position or maybe the limb alignment is slightly out, moving the string to the inside.

@@thebarebowbrummieyes, the trainer bow does have a thicker grip...

man up! LOL!!!!!! I rarely if ever use a string guard when shooting... get your alignment right along with hand position and at worst it'll be is a gentle flick that you'll hardly notice!

Isn't that what he just said?

You are quite right dazzyd. I actually haven't hit myself with the string in a very long time. But for the video I deliberately did it and I definitely don't want to do it again . It stung a bit 😃
