0:29 - Mouzone showing a mild annoyance with Lamar before he opened the door: ‘What is it Lamar?’ Sort of perpetual annoyance with Lamar’s latest mishap, with a sense of comfort from Lamar’s camaraderie. Most hitmen would have had Lamar killed after Omar got in the room. However, Mouzone probably gave him a scolding later on, but told him to be more alert on the lookout. Best guess is to prevent it from cycling; that way, the casing won't eject, which saves him the trouble of picking it up as a piece of evidence. If you don't block the slide from going all the way, the gun will cycle normally, and eject the empty casing as it loads a new round. This way, the gun won't cycle but it also won't eject. Another, more fringe benefit is that if Omar is overpowered and gets only one shot off, the gun has to be cycled again before it can be fired, which is arguably more safe in a tussle.

I love that it's the real life DeAndre McCulloch from the family that the loose prequel 'THE CORNER' was about, playing Brother's bodyguard, Lamaar. THE CORNER is the most accurate portrayal of the drug life and how hopeless it is for most who made just one mistake that went on to define their lives. I really felt for DeAndre, he tried but was too rough around the edges for a normal 9-5 life and slowly slipped from dealer to user since drugs was the bedrock of his hood and all he knew due to most of his family being dependent from his youth. I'm glad he looked healthy and was given the chance for a cameo in THE WIRE, since when THE CORER was completed DeAndre had been kicked out by his mother which I didn't like since she owed him for a lost childhood and introducing him to the life as a bad influence. I hope DeAndre is still doing good and getting by.

One of the Wire's missteps. A repeat of the Season 1 "Parlay" plot, but this time it should have been obvious to Omar that they were using him to get to a hostile party. Out of nowhere they sic him on some rando whom they didn't need to contract to get Brandon? It would have been easy to verify the whereabouts of Mouzone during the relevant time without shooting him. A better strategy would have been to renew the bounty on Omar now that he was back in BMore and to put Mouzone on Omar, but then double cross Mouzone and give a heads up to Omar, allegedly from a guy who has a beef with Barksdale; then you can pin Mouzone on Omar or worse case, Mouzone gets Omar anyway. Then you can work up to the confrontation between Brother and Omar anyway by having Mouzone survive Omar's counterattack in such a way that he knew there was a tip off. In that case Mouzone would have needed to go back to B-More to find who the traitor was, whilst here he knows from jump that it's Bell. This is also a disservice to Bell's character because Bell frankly would not be so stupid as to give away his foreknowledge by exclaiming "Them?" Bell's character arc fails if he's just an idiot. Really a disappointing plotline from The Wire.
