Mao Minzhong composed this piece towards the end of the Song Dynasty, drawing inspiration from Qu Yuan’s line, "And twined autumn orchids to make a garland" found in the poem On Encountering Trouble. In the postscript of The Records of the Grand Pavilion, there’s a passage reflecting on solitude and beauty: "The orchid thrives alone in the quiet valley, its fragrance untouched by human hands. If no one resides in the valley, who will appreciate the orchid's company? The melody of this piece is gentle and serene, flowing at a leisurely pace with a melodious grace.” Its soothing tones, reminiscent of heavenly chimes, carry a sense of ease and simplicity.
