Engine lost power won't plane WOT slow solved finally
Over the last several weeks, I have been busy troubleshooting the issue as shown in the video that started November 4th, the last crab trip
using Wide Open Throttle ( WOT ) we could only get a top speed of just under 10MPH and we had to look into severval possibilities in this video.
This is the list of things I have done:
-replaced fuel water seperator
-replaced inline fuel filter
-tested for spark we have spark all 6 plugs
-verified spark cables healthy not corroded or damaged
-replaced spark plugs, regap to .030
-compression testing all cylinders all are under 5% variance
-checked link and sync no issues
-verified carburetor's butterflies open no issues
-verified controls are fully opening carb intake valves

Well everyone, I finally figured out the issue, in the description I shared what I looked at, but the ultimate overlooked issue was that the bildge pump failed on me and I never noticed until the sea trial this sunday 11/26/2023. After all that we verified and checked the issue returned leaving me and my buddy Bob, shout out to my buddy for taking on the sea trial with me by the way. During the sean trial, we were fine all day than, the issue returned at the end of our sea trial this sunday. While we were both scratching our heads, we had to consider all possbilities and there was one thing we over looked, the weight! we found tons of water and I mean tons likely 800 pounds of water in the hull up to the battery and even in my center storage leaving me to wonder and consider the bildge pump which in fact was not operating! this never dawned on me until I realized we had a full rainy day plus when backing the boat down over the last two crabbing trip, the bildge always kicked out excess water but i do recall now that never happened. Ultimately it was the the water weight bogging us down considering everything in this video was fine. During the sea trial this sunday and discovering hundreds of extra pounds of water this was definately the root cause, it was a failed bildge pump which I will be not only be replacing but installing TWO!! a manual and an automaticac one going forward with a manual switch. Now the question where was the water coming from? Well that was easy to explain, I have a cooler in the back of the boat used to transport and store live fish which has a 2000GPH pump to bring water in, when I fill that cooler for fish, I always have gallons of water spill over into the transom however, the seals in the peak holes were bad leaving gallons of water to drain into the hull and while fishing I often back the boat into the swells to hold us on a spot also contributing to more water pushed into the transom area which has never been a problem for years up until when I noticed the bildge pump failed. the main issue was I was collecting hundreds of pounds of sea water slowly throughout the day and without the bildge pump kicking that water out, it just collected like a bathtub in the hull, we found that out after the sea trial when we discovered a poool of water in the center storage and opened the Batter doors to look in the rear and found water 1/4 to halfway up the Batteries!! holy what! YUP!!! so that was the final issue folks! If you have questions about all that I have done including why the water built up please comment and I will reply, but we did in fact have too much weight on the boat since I used the Trim tabs to force dive the nose down and that gave us 25 MPH so we know absolutely without a doubt the extra weight was caused from hundreds of pounds of water not getting expelled due to the failed bildge pump. sorry for the long winded PINN, but it's so important to share with others that the issue ended up being simple and overlooked as nobody, not even myself considered this even though I had a clue but never actually followed through with the hunch, even in the video I mentioned weight but at that time headed home, it didn't click until the issue returned and the engine was healthy so that was it guys!!

The question how is the water getting in. Try to use good compression gauge the cheaper one will get faulty reading in my experience.

check out my Pinned! it was the Water weight, and a failed bildge pump along with two large 6 inch Peak Hole rubber round seals failing leaving gallons of water to leak into the hull and takes an entire outting for the it to be noticed, hence why the issue was only present after a long day fishing like 12 hours day. it was slow enough to not be noticed, but completely noticable at the end of the day because the bildge pump failing never removed water throughout the day like it used to for years! hope that answers your question of where the water was coming from
