Honestly when you first hear him say the "thought you'd be not easy but just not complicated", you think yeah sounds pretty crude, but when you remember how he had been dating Emily prior it kind of gives you more perspective. How she treats Matt the entirety of the game is awful, and honestly the night didn't go as they expected but Jess did get to see that when things get serious he's a good guy who risked his life to save her.
