Yeah I painted an old drysink (not an antique) and my grandma wasn't thrilled at first. Honestly it's my house and the style of the dark heavy finish wasn't vibing with us. We now we like it more and I know I can strip it back if I ever change my mind.

I stripped and refinished an old chest-of-drawer that hand belonged to my wife's grandmother. The grandmother did 'spring cleaning' by putting another coat of paint on furniture. At two points in the piece's history, grandma had adhered contact paper to the top. When everything had been removed, I had a beautiful chest with 1/4-sawn book-matched drawers, and a 1/4-sawn 1x6 glued and pinned top. It was worth the effort to refinish it.

I love chippy, painted furniture honestly. I enjoy that primitive/country style. But I'd never paint anything that was an antique or actually valuable. There's plenty of cheaper stuff to play with. I love walnut too. This turned out really nice and cozy looking.

I was so nerveous when you said peel and stick. Then you stained it and the end result was just beautiful. Even getting the legs to match instead of just painting them a dull and tried colour. Pinewood furniture are some of those that are perfectly fine to paint. Mdf furniture the same. When working with veneer it's so important to know what you're dealing with and to love the originality of the furniture.
