I scored some old welding cable and stripped it out for a tidy profit. See how much copper is actually in welding cable and how easy it is to strip ! #weldingcable #scrapcopper #copper

As a hobbyist scrapper, I’m always a little nervous at buying stuff to scrap, but even I would have jumped at that deal. And it is so easy to strip. With no Ommering at all .
@CruiserMac2 жыл бұрын
Me too Ian, but once I had lugged it back to the shed I was pretty sure it was going to work out good. Very easy to strip, only need a razor knife really. 'Ommers are always on standby though ! 😁😁😁

A great score of cable there mate and it made some good weight too, the profit your going to make is also fantastic turning $100 into $500.......I see you have also invested in those Milwaukee Cable Cutters, im sure they are cheaper in the states too compared to what i had to pay for mine, but they are money well spent and have certainly made things easier when needed.
@CruiserMac2 жыл бұрын
Hi Dan, yes those cable cutters work great! Mine will cut up to 500 MCM copper, which is a chore to cut with hand shears.

Very nice score!! I bought a full 100' spool of 4/0 at a garage sale once for $40!!! I have a chart that tells me how much wire weighs per foot. 4/0 is .78 lbs/ft.!!! 😳👍🤑
@CruiserMac2 жыл бұрын
I realized that a career change as a welders helper was not in the cards ! The helper drags those cables around all day and they are heavy ! Garage sales should be starting in a couple of months, going to hit them hard this year!

do scrap yards care if I chop up a 100ft welding cable into multiple small pieces to strip/clean (much easier to handle) or one long cable? Does it matter to them? Thanks
@CruiserMac6 ай бұрын
No they don't care ! Welding cable is great if you can get it, easy to strip and heavy copper !

Nice one Mac, welder you say hmm ..:) Your guess was bang on that 140 weight mark. I think we are closer to 4.60 here so if you have other material might just be worth a drive? /cheers ScrapBongo
@CruiserMac2 жыл бұрын
Wow, that would be a $1.10 more that I would get here. Only problem is sometimes you wait and the price goes down. Yes, I briefly had 3 welders but my old one sold as soon as I listed it on FB Marketplace ! I think you could just bolt those mesh shelves on the sides you have and it would be simple and easy !
@scrapbongo7862 жыл бұрын

It is low compared to the coast, Scrap Bongo thinks it is around $4.60 down there right now. Well we have some left over snow but that is cold for you guys! The Iguanas will be dropping from the trees again !
