OMG! I was sitting here flinching as I remembered putting a rusty blade through one side of my thumb and out the front!!! Back in the day we use to take a pile of wire and burn the sheathing off.

If you do it that way with your arm fixed you'll never cut yourself well never say never but if you slip off it's a lot more controllable
@Syzygy6294 жыл бұрын
That's a good idea. It would work too by parking close, tying copper to truck, rubber to other truck, then reversing.

That wouldn't work- when you pull on the rubber coating it stretches but shrinks in diameter, gripping the wire harder. Same principle involved in removing/ replacing rubber bicycle/ motorcycle handlebar grips. You rarely can pull them off, you push them off. Pushing makes them larger, pulling makes them shrink.

Get 4" of poly or pvc pipe, big enough to slide freely on the cable. Slice it lengthways in half. Use 1mm thin cutting disc in angle grinder, cut a slot in centre of half tube that's long enough to make a blade from your stanley knife poke through enough to cut the thickness of the cable coating. Hot melt glue gun the blade in the slot from the outside. Now you have a guide on your knife so you don't need the towel or wrapping your arm around the cable. Other variations involving a complete bit of pvc that you slide the cable through with a knife blade in can be made also. Then you wont need to string it out tight. I ended up buying an electric wire stripper that strips up to 40mm dia. Not cheap, but in time it'll pay for itself many times over. My goal is not to cash any copper until I have 1 tonne. PAYDAY!

Ya know Bert, they do make wire strippers. Although it wouldn't be this entertaining. If you get alot of wire it might be worth the investment. How much money will you get out of that copper you just stripped? Is it worth your time to do all of that? Why such a short video? I'm absolutely positive there are more things you're going to do that we might find interesting. Couldn't ya go out curb shopping for a little while? Geez. Now I'll sit back and wait for your smart ass comments. Have a great day.
