For those of you watching. You can use transistors as well. They are also quite. Transistors have a number of uses. Strobes are one reason. But because of the speed a transistor is recommended. Especially since they can be used for signal amplification. Also because relays have moving parts they go bad faster. Computer hardware was my first ever college course. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. LOVE YOUR CONTENT!

Do you really need an LED flasher with modes?
@fd11505 жыл бұрын
Looks great but the relays are likely to die as well as just be annoying. You can achieve the same using mosfets instead, or solid state relays (which is n optically coupled mosfet) if you've not used Mosfets before and a little unsure.

@Verhellen-Automotive9 ай бұрын
Are you using a solid state relais for your direct power feed? Because if it’s a conventional elektromagnetic relais with contact points it’s not gonna take long for them to overheat and burn out. No? They switch everytime a light output is activated which in a strobe setup is alot and on a short time period. You should be using solid state relais, since they switch using an elektronical component (semiconductor) and don’t have internal switching contact points which in their turn don’t overheat in quick switching conditions. Otherwise great vid and I ordered the strobe flasher but I chose physical buttons on the cars dash. A safety fighter type red switch and a steel push button. Gonna look great in my C200 Road assistance vehicle. 🙌

Great video! Finally someone that gets close enough to my targeted goal for me to ask a question. I wanna do something like this but I wanna do it with off-road lights. I have amber lights and white lights that are fully functional and I really want to get a strobe out of them alternating between ambers and whites. I dont really need so many modes, only 1 mode to be trigered by 1 button. So, would you advice to look at this setup or would you advice me to look for something different? I would do it all with relays cuz a 300 watt lightbar aint gonna be powered by that little thing, but I'm more concerned about the triggering itself. I wanna go with a physical button on a rocker switch panel. Thanks for any advice on this man, you won a subscriber just for this video

A great way to replace the relay with it's mechanical elements which tend to fail, would be a solution based on MOSFETs. No mechanical elements, no clicking noise and a very long lifespan. // I like your videos a lot - keep on posting, pls! 👍😎👍 Cheers, TOBi

Is there a mode for for the light to remain on with no flash, I have a work truck that has the hood pods I use and then also need them to flash while in the field, or would all this require is an additional power and switch ?
@williambeckman69005 жыл бұрын
Getting full voltage to the light for maximum light output is a good idea but when using a solid state flasher that is capable of bursts that are milliseconds long in a series driving an electromechanical device (relay) will cause cause severe premature failure of the relay when you can achieve the same result by keeping the wire length to an absolute minimum. But if you want to be known for making devices the fail on a regular basis and doing rework on devices that you are hiding in assemblies that have to be disassembled for repairs then keep using relays and long wires. I loose money if I have rework or bad word of mouth reports.
@flyryde5 жыл бұрын
Swapping a 1 dollar part of it ever fails, all in trade for a crazy extra amount of light is a great trade off. Idealism isn’t practical my guy, How short should that wire be? 🤣
@williambeckman69005 жыл бұрын
@@flyryde I would use multiple electronic flash units that have synchronization with direct power connection rather than driving a relay that will fail. Keep the flasher as close as possible to the light assembly so voltage drop is at a minimum and current is constant.
