I like these rockets ! I was a licensed pyro for a couple years. We fired lots of ball shells and cakes, but never any rockets. I would now definitely include rockets in a show. Very cool !

Hi Casper. Watched the video over and over and maybe om wrong .. i see the rocket takes off from straigt strobe fuel , so.. no whistle as primary fuel is that correct ? When i worked on the strobe / poerchlorate 5% got good results on non cored first stage motors to strobe slow .. did you used strobe/ percchlorate on the entire spindle ? Never seen a strobe rocket taking off that fast in only strobe fuel Pd. Nice to see you posting my friend!!!

Sorry about not getting back sooner, it wasn’t in my control unfortunately. To answer your question, yeah, this was a normal strobe rocket with the whistle mix pressed on the first rammer, then the strobe for the rest of the spindle, before the whistle delay (in this case, the delay was a slower sodium salicylate whistle mix formula). Even though the launch looks like the rocket was pressed with only strobe around the spindle due to the color of the light, it did use whistle mix through rammer one. Hellfire whistle burns very fast, and the color of light it throws off is brilliant white or sometimes light-neon-purple because it uses potassium hydrogen phthalate (also known as KHP or monopotassium phthalate) as the main fuel. Not the usual yellowish orange color emitted by sodium benzoate or sodium salicylate is seen when you use potassium salts as fuel with potassium perchlorate. So when you use potassium benzoate or KHP in whistle mixes where potassium perchlorate is the oxidizer, they do not create yellow light, rather it’s white or purplish. Now anyway, I want to clarify stuff about the strobe mix. The strobe propellant does definitely behave very interestingly when you add potassium perchlorate. The video, as per usual, is lacking, but in real life, the pops where chest-pounding like a huge steam engine locomotive chugging along in the sky above you or some shit like that, it was cool asf. But for real though, you needed to be there to truly get the gist of what I mean here. The strobe, although considerably short-lived with additional incorporating of +Ƽ% KClO₄, was honestly very idiosyncratic in terms of its overall behaviors and performance. It’s weird and far from understood undoubtedly, but nevertheless, it’s very cool and captivating. You and I just discovered this trick, and no one knows what the method of action is, but whatever’s happening is obviously quite complicated and warrants further examination and analysis.

And it is definitely something else , I'll like to follow your work and give it a try one day I don't know if yt is also hiding the message I sent you on your 5% pot perchlorate strobe fuel video ? I find out that the 3 micron magnalium accelerates the cycle signicantly on any strobe mix I have tried.. On the other side klco4 slowes down that light and dark phases somehow and contributes to a more defined and louder pops , very weird for sure.. Going back to the 3 micron mag.. anything containing more than 5 % of it will turn onto a very fast cycling strobe. For example : my best strobe mix , the louder, and most consistent is the one with 80% base mix / 10%80-200 and 15% -325 / 5%NC. In order to incorporate the 3 micron mag to it and in order to imitate that mentioned formula and it's behavior the new mix is as follows: Base mix 80% 80-200 18% -325 5% 3 micron 3% NC 5% Then both formulas behave almost identical when pressed on a spindle . What chemical leaves the trail? Is it mixed into the strobe mixture?

The metal is -20+80 mesh titanium sponge. You can find it for sale at www.pyrochemsource.com for use in rockets like this one. I also used the same stuff in the salute heading. I added the titanium to the whistle propellant in the delay stage above the strobe. Although it look like in the video that I also added some to the strobe around the spindle, I did not, I only added it in the delay.
