Has there been any testing to see how the sub flash pulls power? For example, does it drain from the main capacitor when firing, or does it have a separate capacitor thus avoiding a drop in output of the main flash when the subflash is in use?
@Strobepro9 ай бұрын
Great question! We'll run some quick tests and see what we can find. Now that we're on the subject, I'm also wondering what impact (if any) the subflash might have on recycle times for the main flash. 🤔

Question : I have the V1 pro, the V1 and the AD200 - how do I connect them all, so that the front flash of the V1 pro also goes of if I use it as my on Camera flash, i have set them all up, but the front flash of the V1 pro does not flash with all the other flashes, only by it self ???

Just purchased the X3 and V1 Pro but for some reason the trigger doesn't fire the flash. I've followed all the pairing/channel/group instructions, and placed flash in RX mode. Interesting the trigger fires an older Godox flash perfectly, which indicates the issue is with the V1 Pro. Interested to hear if anyone else has had this issue and if there's a solution.

Thank you so much! The godox v1 pro unit for canon which I have, when used with R6, in HSS it does throw an overexposed flash. When used under normal shutter speed (1/200 for R6) it does expose well. Have you heard of such a behavior?
@Strobepro3 ай бұрын
We've heard mixed feedback on on mixing TTL and HSS with the newer Canon bodies (from the R5 onward). It seems quite possible that there might still be some bugs to work out. You may need to finesse it a little more than usual with exposure compensation or just try to stick to manual flash powers when working with HSS. Another thing to note is that these flashes don't have the same power range in HSS (the power range drops from 9 stops to around 4 stops when HSS is enabled). Peak flash power dips significantly as soon as you enter HSS, so it's probably a rare occasion when the flash simply can't get low enough. In outdoor portraiture, we usually have the opposite problem. But there are other shooting scenarios where you could potentially hit a wall with the flash's minimum power in HSS. If you want to test whether your flash has bottomed out or if the TTL system is to blame, you can always stop down and see if that resolves the exposure issue. I do have one final note that applies to TTL in general. Depending on your subject and scene, selecting the appropriate metering mode could be critical. For example, if you spot meter a black jacket, that will lead to overexposure from your TTL flash.

Great guide. Would you happen to know why I can't activate focus assist beam on flash. Build in assist beam works on my canon r5.
@Strobepro7 ай бұрын
Hey @stiletas, The beam on your camera is a conventional lamp that provides some illumination to aid focusing. The AF assist beams found on speedlites and radio controllers emit some visible red light, but mainly infrared light. Classic phase detection autofocus systems could read this infrared light on your subjects. It seems that the AF assist beam is likely to become an obsolete technology since mirrorless cameras use on-sensor phase detection. Anything on-sensor is behind an infrared filter-at least at this stage of technology. You'll find that even Canon's OEM flashes won't project an AF assist beam when mounted on your R5. Since the R5 is meant to be able to focus at -6EV, hopefully it won't be a feature you find yourself missing too often.

Does anyone know for Canon version the high speed sync which hace an issue with older version does pro version fix the issue wil the high speed sync work with TTL now?
@cooloox8 ай бұрын
You did an excellent job explaining the various settings and features. There is just one thing you didn't talk about and no-one ever does. The V1 and most other Godox flashes work in TTL and work in HSS modes with Canon R series cameras but DO NOT work when using both HSS + TTL together! You just get a full power flash every time. It's highly annoying and no-one ever discusses it. I contacted Godox last year and they confirmed the issue and had been working on it but hadn't found a solution. So the one million dollar question is: does, the V1 Pro work in TTL + HSS at the same time, with Canon R series cameras? Is it possible for you to test this please?
@iansampson13029 ай бұрын
Hi Jesse, will Godox be updating the V1 and other products to fit the new Canon R50 hot shoe or will we have to continue buying a Canon adaptor for the R50.

The sub flash does not work when I have different channels on my flash on! It sucks and doesn’t make any sense to me. I usually work with my main flash with other room lights (strobes) and for my use this sub flash is quite useless most of the time.
@Strobepro4 ай бұрын
You are correct-the sub flash is not supported when the V1Pro is using its Rx or Tx modes. It's possible that Godox will find a way to implement the sub-flash in these modes through a firmware update, but we haven't heard anything yet.

How can I activate the line on the indicator scale? thank you
@Strobepro4 ай бұрын
Because bounce flashes introduce too many variables, you will only see a distance indicator while the flash head is pointing forward. When using a manual flash power, you will see the rough distance where you can expect a good flash exposure at your camera settings. In TTL mode, you will see a range of distances highlighted, reflecting the V1Pro's minimum and maximum flash powers. The distance scale will only work if your camera can obtain aperture information from the lens, so be aware of that if you are using any adapted lenses.

Do you know the article number for the cable between V1pro (for Nikon) and the PB960? Tried the Godox NX but that one is for SB flashes...
@Strobepro7 ай бұрын
Hey Ed, Any Godox speedlites that are compatible with the PB960 use the Cx (Canon type) cable standard. It's a little confusing since you bought the "Nikon" V1Pro, but all V1Pro flashes use the same cable regardless of brand compatibility.

Great video, I'm a wildlife & occasional sports photographer who was asked to photograph an event and I'm very weak on speedlight use in general & didn't even have one for my R5 until today when the V1 Pro arrived. I used to us an off-brand AA battery external power pack for my old DSLR speedlights and it plugs into this Godox and appears to work, but there is a faint ticking sound coming from the pack when it's plugged into the Godox; I don't remember hearing that with my old 600 EX RT speedlight. It literally sounds like a ticking time bomb, lol, should I be concerned?
@Strobepro7 ай бұрын
@jertexjertex7880 Glad you enjoyed our video! It's hard to say if the sound you're hearing from your external pack is cause for concern. The ticking could be something arcing internally, which may or may not be a superficial problem. I would say it's unlikely that your pack will damage the flash if that is your concern. But, for legal reasons, this is opinion and not advice. 😁

If I buy two V1s (one for my Olympus and one for my Sony): Do I still need the XPro2 ? Or couldn't I control the other V1 off-camera with the V1 on the camera !?
@Strobepro6 ай бұрын
You can use one V1 flash to control the other using the Tx mode. As long as the V1 on your camera has a matching hotshoe, both flashes will retain all functions including TTL and HSS. The on-camera flash can be managed using the "M" group. You'll even have the option of disabling that group if you only want the off-camera flash to fire. Hope that helps!

Does the sub flash works in Slave mode ??

Hi I’m new here.. I have a question does Godox v1 pro works with Canon cameras? I mean does the metal bracket at the bottom works with all canon cameras? P.s I am from different country, so sorry for the mistakes
@Strobepro4 ай бұрын
Hi @jasiunaiteugne2572, Canon has a confusing array of hotshoes that appear on their cameras now. The EOS R50 is not compatible without the AD-E1 adapter sold by Canon. Other Canon cameras that have the new "multi-interface" shoe still retain the legacy E-TTL contacts and are compatible. The Canon Rebel cameras that lack the centre pin are also compatible with Godox devices on their latest firmware. At the time of this writing, unless you have an EOS R50, you should be good!

Does the flash recycle faster with the PB960 attached? That was the case with the TT685 flashes.
@Strobepro10 ай бұрын
No it won't go any faster because it already runs off lithium.
@timk825810 ай бұрын
@@Strobepro Did you actually test this? The TT685 with the PB960 recycles almost instantly at full power, much faster than any of the Godox lithium speedlights. And Adorama's product description says "Compatible with power pack PB960 for quicker recycle time" so someone is wrong here.

Does support pd charging?
@Strobepro9 ай бұрын
Godox does not mention anything about power delivery in their manuals. You may be able to charge the battery during use, but we hesitate to recommend that. Without PD passthrough, charging between uses is generally better for the long-term life of the battery.
