If I have ever given someone a heartfelt like, it’s now. Sir, you have my deepest respect. I’ve watched over 20 videos on KZbin, but yours is the most detailed and provided all the information I needed. I was torn between the V1 and V1 Pro models, and thanks to your explanation, I’ve decided on the Pro variant due to the USB-C charger. I also understood the benefits of the additional small flash, as well as its drawbacks. Of course, there are other factors and advantages compared to traditional rectangular flashes like the TT685. By the way, I rarely leave comments unless I’m truly impressed. I am a professional photographer with over 20 years of experience, a photography school instructor (training professionals to reach a higher level), and the owner of a 300 m² studio with additional facilities. So far, I’ve invested around €150,000 in photo and video equipment. Sir, thank you for your effort and time. You’ve helped me a lot, and I am definitely subscribing to your channel.

This was so informative. Time to upgrade from my V860III which is starting to fire infrequently. Was wondering if the V1 Pro is worh the $$$ but now I feel it is.

Very nice overview. Have been enjoying my V1 for the past year, always used Nikon SB5000 and SB800 with external battery before. With those and with the V1 I use a strobe frame flash will always be pointed in the chosen orientation.

I’m wondering if they will start selling replacement batteries that include USB-C charging for the different battery pack based flash units.

I'm sure they will.

Does the new battery of the V1 Pro work on the V1? That would allow to not travel with the charger. Anyway for travel I would prefer the TT350 or the TT685ii with rechargeable AAs
@RobTrek7 ай бұрын
Yes, the V1 Pro battery fits the V1.
@stefpix7 ай бұрын
@@RobTrek thank you. That could be a nice upgrade for the V1. It should fit the AD100pro as well.

I wonder if a V2 Pro unit will come that gives use TTL control of the sub flash?
@RobTrek9 ай бұрын
They might be able to just do a firmware update.

Your comments in favour of the Pro have me thinking I will keep mine and maybe unload the regular version and/or some other older speedlites. Up to now I was thinking the Pro is too good for me as a so-so shooter (Sony a7III) but I do want to start using flash at outdoor sporting events so I can 1/get stronger contrast those people like and 2/freeze motion more reliably and especially more before the recycle speed fades.
@RobTrek8 ай бұрын
Thanks. I think the pro makes sense in that case.

Does anyone know for canon version the original V1 and other Godox flashes, such as the AD200 Pro, do not work when shooting TTL + HSS together. TTL on its own or HSS on its own work fine but when used together, the flash fires at full power every shot. I contacted Godox last year and they confirmed the issue. They were working on it but hadn't been able to resolve the issue at that time. Do anyone know if TTL + HSS are working properly now with the new V1 Pro and Canon mirrorless cameras (especially the R7, as that is the camera I have)? Could anyone please test this for Canon R series camera (if you have R7 would be awesome) would be much appreciated.

Hi Rob! I'm new to this and wondering whether the Mount of the flash makes a difference in terms of compatibility? Can I use any flash on any system or will the mount differ significantly and functionality would be limited? I have some old flashes from the 90s and they work with any flash mount, so I'm confused. Best regards and thanks for the great videos!
@RobTrek5 ай бұрын
Generally speaking, the mount is standard and will fit any camera. A noticeable exception is the Sony. The "made for Sony" flashes will not fit other cameras. However, other flashes will fit the Sony. For example, my Nikon flashes fit Sony, Fuji, Olympus. However, you will need to buy the flash that is compatible with your brand of camera to get TTL and HSS. Otherwise you will have to control the flash power manually. Be careful of mounting old flashes made for film cameras. The pin voltage is different and could damage your camera.

Hi, thanks for the video. Can you tell me if the new side switch to change from TTL to Manual works when the back panel is locked? My fat forehead always accidentally changes the mode by hitting the wheel but the two seconds it takes to unlock the wheel is an eternity when photographing people on stage.
@RobTrek7 ай бұрын
Yes, the switch still works when the back panel is locked.

My V1 Pro S doesn’t fire off the sub-flash in RX mode from the X3 Nano, only in on-camera mode. Is this how it should be?
@RobTrek7 ай бұрын
Yes, the sub-flash is disabled when off-camera.

Interesting review, however I only rarely use flash power, if taking interior ( or exterior) images of people, they ( particularly in the age of phone cameras) seem quite put off by the use of a flash ! This has always been an issue, however the onslaught of mobile phone cameras has simply increased the "flash shyness" of human subjects. Looks to be a great option for serious hobbyists and pros- imagine true pros will always use OE units.

There is something definitely wrong with your flash. I hear Wescott is pretty good.

You can always increase your ISO and reduce the power on the flash

love all these guys who get freebies from companies and go out of their way to say "I'll give my honest opinion." That's the exact definition of bias and why purchasing your own test item with your own cash is the only way to actually be unbiased. You are *guaranteed* to be biased by the fact you were gifted a sample for your youtube channel.
