I had an ischemic stroke 4years ago that paralyzed my left side and was abandoned by my family in the hospital during covid and was thrown in a horrible nursing home and now pray for death everyday I'm blessed I did not have any Aphasia or cognitive issues, but I've been bedridden for the last 4 years

I'm in the US. I knew it was a stroke...I couldn't walk without falling. The ambulance did not go to the stroke center. They asked if I wanted to go to WH (local hospital). I said I guess so. I didn't know the stroke center was now in LL (next town). I didn't get tpa apparently because I had slept late and woke up, got up and started to walk but not far before grabbing for walls and furniture. Maybe it had been too long, maybe not. The hospital had no idea what they were doing. The nurses wanted me to use a bed pan because escorting me to the restroom was going to get someone hurt. Finally almost 2 days later they said I was bad enough to go to the stroke center in LL where I found out how things should be. It's been almost 7 years and I still have a non-working leg.

Thank you for sharing your experience. It’s clear that the lack of proper stroke treatment early on had a significant impact on your recovery. Unfortunately, stories like yours emphasize the need for better awareness and protocols in stroke care. Your experience highlights the importance of getting to a dedicated stroke center as quickly as possible. It’s crucial that we continue to push for improvements in how strokes are handled to prevent others from facing similar challenges.

Interesting that US has B.E.F.A.S.T ,as my stroke began with total lost of balance and vomiting. Was told by ambulance that I had vertigo and was sent home by emergency with exercises. I knew what vertigo was like as had it before, and it was definitely not vertigo. 3 more visits to ER over 4 days and a CT scan came up negative. I had by that time became very unwell and eventually had a seizure and transferred to Royal Melbourne Hospital on ventilation. They performed an MRI an immediately diagnosed a stroke in cerebellum, which apparently may not show up on CT because of bone interface. Only an MRI could pick-up my stroke. The B.E.F.A.S.T system is much better to recognize my type of stroke has both loss of balance and eyesight disturbances. Still havind problems and fatigue after 8 months but improving ever so slightly everyday. Love watching your videos Bill.

Hey, Bryne glad you are on the road to recovery and love your "ever so slightly every day" attitude. I had my surgery at the Royal Melbourne and my rehab nearby at Parkville. I agree with you about fast and have always been curious why Aus doesn't adopt BEFAST. I made an Instagram post some time ago asking people if their stroke was fast, check out the responses here. instagram.com/p/CO_-NjksWhN/?igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

My ischemic stroke made itself manifestly evident in mid Nov 2023. Fortunately, we decided to have it looked right away although the actual CAT scan was not conducted until about 4 hours later. Regretably, though, actual symptoms of a stroke made themselves briefly evident early in the evening previous. Initial care was first rate, despite which I expect recovery to some degree of normalcy will still be a few more months.

There is a stroke doctor in Boca Raton, FL that has been having fantastic results by injecting The diabetic injection into the back of the neck. He then tilts the bed with the head down for the medication to be directed to the brain. I believe that he has been using this technique over 14 or 15 years! Of course the FDA doesn’t approve for stroke care! 😡 Too much money to be made by keeping stroke victims bedridden! My husband had a very severe stroke on March 2, 2023. He is bedridden and in extreme pain if we move his paralyzed arm and leg! Med Beds should be available soon! We’re praying for his healing then! Don’t give up hope! NAMASTE’ 🙏 OH YES, MED BEDS HAVE ALREADY BEEN DISTRIBUTED TO MOST HOSPITALS ACROSS THE WORLD. THEY ARE TOTALLY FREE! NO GREED HERE TO HEAL SICK PEOPLE. THANK YOU GOD! ❤🎉😊
