as a stroke survivor with hemiplegia I must admit I am very jealous of you progress bu watching thi made me depressed. because after more than a year I canno still move my fingers at all, my hand is closed in a fist and I am not progressing.I am so sad. but well done to you.
@strokerecovery-rehabjourne1368 Жыл бұрын
Hi don't be depressed. People progress at difference rates. Keep on focussing on your daily rehab. I used to get disappointed when I compared my rate of improvement with others. NOW I just focus on myself and follow a Japanese saying : KAIZEN - small, seemingly ongoing improvement. Celebrate even the smallest of improvements. This will give you a tota;;y different outlook on your rehab. Where are you located? Best Wishes, John

You had Ischemic or Haemorrhage Stroke? Was it severe?
@strokerecovery-rehabjourne1368 Жыл бұрын
I suffered an Ischemic Stroke
@strokerecovery-rehabjourne1368 Жыл бұрын
I suffered an Ischemic Stroke which left me partially paralysed on the left hand side of my body. I had to learn to stand, balance and walk again.
@garywalling43412 жыл бұрын
Oh yeah.....how's your walking?
@strokerecovery-rehabjourne13682 жыл бұрын
i get a little fatigued when walking but besides that - sll good. I used to walk with a large circumduction with my left leg but this has now disappeared

Watching this pisses me off!...because THIS is all the stuff my PT and rehab hospital should've told me to do after release?!!! ..im in my 3rd month into stroke and frustrated!
@strokerecovery-rehabjourne13685 ай бұрын
Don't be pissed off -focus on what is in front of you. Rehab is hard and repetitive, progress can be alow but focus and celebrate ongoing improvement, no matter how small. Over a period of time, these small improvements will ;lead to more noticeable improvement. Where are you from. All the best, John

@strokerecovery-rehabjourne1368 .Hello ! I'm from Southern California..I do isolated strength exercises for my left side leg and arm,,and take nightly walks w cane,,,The small hand coordination exercises is what I should have been doing..instead I was told to use the colored putty and to always use affected hand for improvement,,but now I realize that's not enough..My pinky and index fingers are starting to curl up or straighten out too much...lol..these post stroke body parts require more maintenance than ford taurus😉...thank you for the response 👍👍

Looks like you've had access to a dedicated rehab team......................me no such luck! Are you in the UK? What type of stroke did you have (mine was hemmorhagic)? How long from having the initial stroke to where you are now? Did you have physio/occupational therapy every day? Sorry as with pretty much all major stroke victims I have so many questions and very few answers.

Hi Gary, I work with a sensational Exercise Physiologist - 5 days a week. She is wonderful, understanding my physical & emotional needs, and tailors a program to cater for my individual needs - she has changed my life. I am in Australia. My stroke was a Ischemic Stroke (blood clot)}
@berndwildner63412 жыл бұрын
Hi, great recovery! Did you take also supplements or only healthy food?
@strokerecovery-rehabjourne13682 жыл бұрын
Hi Bernd, no supplements, just normal food - not too many fatty foods
