Expectant parents in Montreal are trying to get the public's attention to what they believe is an online scam.
Several say they bought baby strollers from an individual online, only to find out that the products were not as advertised.
Legal experts say there are ways for consumers to protect themselves against fraud, but buyers should beware.
Global’s Phil Carpenter reports.

Kind of flabergasted that someone would pay thousand of $ whitout looking, testing an used product.

I honestly don’t feel sorry for any of them, & miss the days whenever stroller’s were rated based on safety instead of being a fashion statement.

Not defending the seller but there appears to be a real lack of buyer beware here from all the buyers in this piece.

That's crazy !!!! I had listed a baby stroller for 20$ on the market for 5 months used/like new, and no one bought it even though I offered a refund for the first 5 days !!!!!!!!!!!!!! The irony of it

My daughter couldn't give away a single kitten she had for free so she put them up for $300 each and all 6 were gone for full price within a few days. People are programmed to believe expensive means good and low price means cheap.

The seller is July Ri. She pretends that her parents bought the stroller for her, but she doesn’t use it anymore. So she is acting in bad faith, because she lies.

You'd be surprised These strollers go for $1500 retail. It's some kind of status symbol for moms at the playground.

I don't feel sorry for the buyer at all. If people aren't self aware and paying attention by now, they never will. Why this is news worthy is baffling. This is also Quebec, though.

It's unfortunate they got scammed but it's also stupid to pay $1,000 for a stroller without opening it up and examining it.

A “merchant” would be “happier” if they were purchasing an item as advertised. A “merchant” does not like being scammed, because it would make them un-“happy”, and by the news raising awareness of this issue, this prevents “merchants” from having them happen to them too, as they do not want to feel un”happy”. Get it now?
