The Botanical Garden is the largest and at the same time the youngest park in the capital of Kazakhstan. Today the territory of the park is a large square with a side of 1 kilometer adjacent to Kabanbay Batyr Avenue in the south of the city. In the eastern part of the park there is a pond with fountains and three bridges, the middle of which is a continuation of the Ulytau alley and leads to the arch adorning the entrance to the Botanical Garden.
In the eastern part, from the side of the entrance on Turkestan Street, there is a pond dug in the shape of an arch. During the warm seasons, six fountains spray water above its surface. Three bridges, each about 80 meters long, span the pond. Right beyond the central bridge stands a white marble arch with the garden's name. To the left of it is the orangery for desert plants, while to the right are the orangery for tropical plants. These facilities are used for scientific research and may not always be open to the public.
