Worth noting that this was the beginning of Pride weekend in NYC, which is why there are rails being set up for the parade on the 30th + why there are a lot of pride flags out. It's also worth noting that the video starts on the west side of Manhattan where it's extra gay friendly (the video starts out in Chelsea and goes through the West Village to start). Just to the east is the Village + Washington Square Park. Lots of great comedy and jazz in the neighborhood. For those who think it's way too crowded, there are a lot more quieter neighborhoods in the city but it wouldn't be as interesting to walk through and make a video about. I really love hanging downtown but love coming home to my quieter Brooklyn neighborhood.

New York City is amazing and I fell in love with it when I visited. However, as beautiful as this looks, I cannot get over the shoeboxes that these people have to live in just to be in that city. While I love the hustling bustle of a city, my home is extremely important and I would hate to feel so “closed in” to a teeny space like some of the apartments I’ve seen on videos.

Fun fact, Manhattan lost its coolness factor in the late 90's as so many small businesses left the area and residential luxury towers were built for the wealthy. As late as the 90's they actually had regular pizzerias which charged the same as the outer boroughs. I remember a Chinese buffet that charged around 5 bucks for a decent amount of food near 23rd and Lex. Those days are long gone.
