that depends on where you live in America. Most people who live in the midwest pronouce it "ruff" dialect is very diverse in America. Don't assume that just because you pronounce something a certain way doesn't mean everyone else does.

@ShortCircuit11 People pronounce roof two ways in the US. The first is just like Canadians say it. The other sounds like "rook" (like the chess piece) but with an f. Nobody pronounces it like "rough"

I like the Canadian way they pronounce words. I live in Texas and we are always made fun of for the way we pronounce words. It is a CRAZY world we live in about accents. I cannot understand British people sometimes. It sounds like they have food in their mouth when they talk.

Americans seem to enjoy make fun of how we say certain words, here in Canada.
@nancycoffman57073 жыл бұрын
@@sweiland75 Just think what it is like to be a Texan. We say "y'all" and if we are in a different state they always say "What did you say?" My husband and I have been to Vancouver and we loved the Canadian accent. We also ran in to Canadians speaking French. It was neat.

I think they got the wrong word, it's not roof that Amerkyans pronounce like "-u-", it's roots. I've heard soooo many pronounce roots like "ruts", especially southerners, but I've also heard mid west residents pronounce it that way as well. Now that I think about it, coming out of a southerner's mouth, roof sort of sounds like "rof" - a shorter "o" - instead of "roooof", but not quite like how you would pronounce a dog's bark "ruff". Maybe that's what they meant in this video.
@Tr0nzoid10 жыл бұрын
I haven't heard "roots" and "roof" pronounced that way in a long time, and especially haven't heard it from Southerners.

Respect the lady, and love her as an actress...but PETA spends less than 3% of the money raised for the "actual" protection of animals. Most of the money goes to(legislation) trying to tell you what type of animals you can or can't have. Types of dogs,cats, reptiles, etc....I realize that she wishes to help animals(respect and agree), and I'm all for that but PETA is not the organization for that.
