Matt Groening once said when he was telling Danny Elfman what to do for the SImpsons theme, he wanted to avoid how other TV shows would like "apologize for the show not being much, like this is the best we can do" and that's both something I never thought of while listening to radio-bait uplifting 80s theme songs that went way harder than they needed to, but.. at the same time, I instantly get what he meant.

I love this one. It nails all the little things that make theme songs both a cost effective way to produce a show and a really catchy tune that adds little odd things to a show. And it rounds it out with both silly commercials and bumpers that tie the show together along with a decent outro that's cut off for more ads.

1. The commercial immediately after the theme song ordeal is no longer a problem, nor is the one during the credits 2. If done today, he could've added the popups during the program they started using several years ago, or the occasional abrupt ones during live events, like he did in myths and legends. 3. Some theme songs are abridged in order to allow for more commercials (Muppet Babies, Heatcliff, etc)

Holy... You know I've watched this email like a dozen times over the years, and I never noticed until now that one of the names in the credits was "Sid Hoffrenchman". It's amazing just how many of these little callbacks the Bros. Chaps slipped into their cartoons.

I love those... Like the shows that can't even be bothered to hire someone to write a song, so they just buy permission to use a song that already exists. This can be awesome and/or hilarious--if actual thought and wit went into the selection process. But other times it's clear that all the producers were thinking was *"Here, this'll save us two minutes of filming and writing per episode."* 😜
