I have been surprised that river levels in the areas of exceptional rainfall (in the South) have not really responded much. Yes there has been flooding but that has been mostly from blocked drainage and not from overflowing rivers. In fact many of the rivers are already back to normal after only rising a bit at the height of the storm. I am guessing that ground water levels/water table are still low and the rain is able to be absorbed. It will be interesting to see if this next lot is the same.

I've noticed the weather seems to have a wet, cool theme this year. A cool summer, now things are looking cool again. If this theme continued into the winter we may end up with a colder winter than what we've had in recent years
