The Artist has several strong add-ons that are seen fairly commonly, but the Garden of Rot is probably the rarest among them. If you're not so sure that this add-on is worth running, this video might change your mind!

Otz, the major flaw to the Garden of Rot add-on is the fact that survivors can hop into a locker to avoid the exposed status effect. If you want to get better value, run Iron Maiden with the add-on because then there's no counter play.

@@SuPeRfRoG99G Nobody uses it because either people don't know how to play it or because it's rare to get with it being an Iridescent Add On. And what's funny is he actually didn't fully display how nasty you can be with it HOWEVER he gets after BHVR for overpowered killer add ons and other shit. EDIT: He runs random builds to challenge himself and he doesn't complain, he just considers himself unlucky and moves on.

Personally, I like Iron Maiden on artist. People instinctively hop into lockers to remove the birds, and it's honestly way more effective on Artist than you'd think (especially when survivors try to avoid BBQ+C by locker-hopping). It would probably pair nicely with Garden of Rot, as removing the birds at all will cause exposure.

I have tried this build before and it was pretty interesting. It's not the best after some further testing when comparing it to other add-ons/builds but it definitely is fun.

Ah but have you tried to use Iron Maiden on bubba ? People like to locker tech so much and it’s REALLY funny to skip the entire mini game and just bop them while exposed when they hop out .

I like to run iron maiden aa artist, but it works max once or twice per match. Skilled survivors will avoid lockers once they see the status indicator and survivoes not familiar with artist hardly enter lockers. Garden is more consistant, because you force thhem to get exposed or get injured by birbs.

I like iron maiden on doctor. It's definitely not the strongest, but people tend to hop into the lockers to avoid static blast. It is fun at least

i feel artist is almost a hidden gem in the killer roster, she is not just antiloop and she feels kind of like a huntress sometimes with some fun addons( like the swarm addon and the ink egg) you can get cross map snipes which feel so fun

She is! It's for the same reason why I prefer her over Huntress. As long as you know how her power works and some advanced stuff, add it with your good game sense, and you can have some really good pressure on the game. I'm a former Artist main.

@@Charlie-oy8dk I'm pretty sure its when you place 2 birds and space them out enough that one swarms the survivor and the other one hits with such a delay that it actually injures them, it can be done even without severed hands but it take a still target and a big enough spacing between the 2 birds.

she's exactly anti-loop. you place a bird on pallet facing a direction of looping = loop shutdown. if you run through it, you get hit by the bird and if you try go outward then you get hit by m1. Artist has to be one of the lowest skill-floor anti-loop killers in the game. I cannot see how anyone can mess up ability.

It's kinda similar to blight's instadown add-on in the sense that you might not always get an instadown but it's a nice bonus when you do. But unlike blight you can actually fairly effectively play around the addon, survivors have to pick between giving you free info and risking a free injure from a follow-up bird or getting instadowned.

Hey Otz, weeks ago, I watched your video with Singularity. It was a nasty build: Noed, Starstruck, Devour, and Agitation. I replicated this build with Artist (my main). I've already been running the iridescent add-on. This whole build focuses on insta downs. And it's a more chase focused build. It's extremely lethal.

I once had a friend complain about artist having a really weak ability after we faced 3 artists and got 4 people out every single time, so I got a full custom and played my first ever artist game, and where I would normally play some sort of aura reading build, I made an aggressive gen pressure build, ruin, dead man's, pr, and merciless. I played without add ons and got a 4k, have no idea what happened to the artists that day, but I guess they didn't also have gunslinger or hag.

Artist main here. WOW, you almost got my exact try hard build! Only difference is that I change No way out for Iron maiden. Survivors instinctively hop in lockers after realizing they are exposed if they get rid of the birds, so you are basically guaranteed an insta down if you are close by. Literally DC simulator when I play it ;)

I almost never played survivor and i thought that artist screams were mapwide so they would know when you were setting up a bird, but when i faced an artist i got really surprised to see that it isn't. Now i see why she's so messed up at long ranges

I really like how this add on changes the way you play the Artist. Instead of going for the bird immediately it forces you to decide wether or not the insta down is achievable, and if it isn’t you can still hit them with your bird

Yes but you could get more value out of No Way Out with quick first chases. Against a SWF though probably better.

18:45 The other thing about Iron Maiden is that if jumping in the locker is the only way to not get hit by a bird, that’s almost always the preferable option since if you’re injured, you’re insta-downable until you heal anyways, and easier to track. Other than having dh up or the killer being right on top of you, you’re pretty much fine.

I think a major reason behind this is simply the add on rarity lock, like why would i use this add on that i have maybe 2 or 3 of versus the hundreds of a brown. The effect is insanely strong i dont think anyone would say it isnt when they read it let alone use it in gameplay.

As an Artist main, it's just okay. I get what Otz is saying, but it might result in 1-2 extra health states a game at most. That can be big, don't get me wrong, but severed hands did a lot more work than GoR in this video

This is the add on i use most and i feel like it is what keeps her powerful . The pressure is crazy, they have to clear all crows or you can hit them again and follow it up with an m1.

Here I speak from an Otz translator from Chile, a little fan, hello Otz. As a main artist, I don't know if I can recommend anything to him (Sefuro has tried everything). But there is a very evil combination with Iron Maiden and Garden of Rot Addon. Usually when I want to have some fun I go with this combination together with Lethal Pursuer or Discordance, and Triall of Hunt, Devour Hope, all of that together makes in "theory" a build focused on vulnerable. I've also tried it without Garden of Rot, and I'm going with a mix of Silver Bell and O Frief, O Lover addons to force survivors into the locker early in the game only to suffer from Iron Maiden. My only counter point to this is the description of the add on says that Garden of Rot is a self portrait Carmina did of herself with a darkness growing from inside herself. So she herself is rotting due to the entity's corruption and influence is how I've always seen the add on.

Personally, I think Untitled Agony + Garden of Rot works pretty well. The slight hindered let’s you gain some distance so you can be next to the survivor sooner which increases the likelihood of getting an instadown from GoR.

That first match makes me appreciate Swamp maps all the more. It flattens the effectiveness of the stronger Killers without also unfairly hurting basic M1s. Skilled Killers such as Otz can still make short work of Survivors even with the added verticality, so any complaints about the map are more a self-report that the player is lacking skill.

I run iron maiden on artist and have slaughtered teams who instinctively jump into lockers. Probably doesn't work at higher levels of play but at medium-skill level it can be a beast. Plus it lasts super long so you can absolutely capatilize on it even when you're far away.

question to long term dbd players: is it worth commiting a bit more than 5 games a week (im survivor) to play for the "highest mmr"? Did they actually manage to have a working MMR system (or semi-working) where I have quality games with decent survivors against good killers? I have like 1.5k hrs overall in DBD (from 3 years back) and I consider myself a decent survivors and my games in silver are currently either a complete stomp from the survivor side, or complete stomp from the killer (I sometimes literally have 3 team mates, that hide 70% of the game and not even touch a generator once and let you die on hook).

As a former artist main (which ended like 1-2months ago so not long ago): this addon overall is just weak. It has the highest potential out of her addons but is extremely inconsistent and it is quite easy to have a game with absolutely no value from it. It also restricts your early long range/medium range potential, as you have to hold back on those to reduce risk of a dispel that you cant m1. i would never recommend it. just run matias baby shoes, severed hands, festering carrion or thick tar.

@@2BReckonedWith I mean that depends. Strongest for Artist would be Corrupt, Pain res, deadmans and deadlock. But tbh any killer can make use of a build like that. Artist just makes DMS a little nastier as she can force people off gens from afar. Personally I like running floods of rage to help hit shots in chase as well as to see and learn how a survivor likes to move when my LOS is blocked and compensate. Iron Maiden isn't "strong" but a fun trap card. She's good for stealth too as her footsteps make no sound. I ahve a fun stealth build for her on my channel if you wanted to learn more about it

@@ZuzaZaleno I’ll check it out. I’ve been running (which I think is my strongest and 85% instant pressure from the beginning) Discordance, Jolt, Pain Res and Sloppy. DMS and Discordance doesn’t go well together and I felt I got way more value with Discordance. I can be in the middle of a chase and still pressure with the sling shot to survivors thinking they’re safe. Sloppy also for the pressure as most good survivors just heel at the hook.

@@2BReckonedWith Sloppy can be inconsistant on Artist though as you don't really want to M1 or may bot M1 survivors in most situations. SH: Gift of pain could provide that same kind of pressure while also making their repair speed slower if they DO heal if you fancied trying it? That way you can apply the sloppy effect to survivors downed by birds

Have you considered pulling in viewers or randoms from discord to make sure you don't experience disconnects or suicides on first hook? Did it take you a while to find footage you liked with using an insta-down add on? I'm assuming this happened a lot.
