If your export market is strong and imports are low, having a weaker currency is not necessarily a bad thing.

Saba and St Eustatius are Dutch territories that use USD. Can you explain this?
@curtd5153 Жыл бұрын
Effectively, you are conflating exchange rate and the strength of the currency. The strength of any currency has to do with the demand for that currency, not the exchange rate.
@michellebrown2773 Жыл бұрын
Doesn’t the demand drive the exchange rate, since the exchange rate is the price, which is determined by demand?
@curtd5153 Жыл бұрын
@@michellebrown2773 No! If that was true then the Japanese Yen would be weak. The strength of the currency is determined by the demand for the currency to purchase goods and services in that currency. In other words, a strong currency could have a horrible exchange rate and vice.

So the Dominican republic won independence from Haiti and they treat the Haitian people like that.
@hansharichardson6382 Жыл бұрын
For that very same reason. The white ancestors offspring still feel the pain of being whipped by former slaves, plus they have the African descendant population miseducated to believe the Haitians came to kill them too and not free them, so there you have it.
