@beniburek depend of my ecoonomy,at the beginning at low speed and when my economy is good and i have some soldiers i'm increasing speed.

well, I didn't place my troops near enough,I just rushed one saladin,and maybe is easy mission but it's harder than others.

I never use horsearchers + shields because that makes the game too easy

It does to a degree but when you fight someone like Saladin or the Wolf it's almost a necessity. For a challenge I fight the Wolf on the Tyre map and I place him in the upper left or right hand corner. In either case he builds one of the most difficult castles to siege.

this is an easy mission. see u got all resources u need en masse and 7k gold so u can buy crossbows to defend all entrances and buy wood to get a stable economy right from the start. just use moats and walls and towers for defense and u will make this mission in 20 minutes.

how do you make the mounted archers go the same speed as the shields (i.e., not going faster/ahead of the shields.) ?

thats one of the easiest missions ^^ u just have to do a lot soldiers at the start and kill 1 npc.. ur first mistake was not to place ur soldiers near enough... thats why he could close his castle... after killing him - close all ur entrances with towers and a gate and then get new soldiers to kill the other 2 ^^
