Stronghold Walkthrough Mission Eighteen End of the Pig

Kill that pig !
Camp for a while kill every defenders getting out like for every attacking mission.
Lure archers with your lancers to force them to use pitch against them, undo the moat with your maceman then launch the siege tower, clean the first walls then back up.
Bring the ram get rid of the first gatehouse you did it ? Great now lure their archers again ! But with the ladders this time, put an other siege turret clean everything don't rush the pig with all your units or they'll burn in the city ( Yes, there is pitch in his OWN CASTLE )
The pig can now die congratulations ! Next one THE WOLF !

This shit happened to me too. I remember finishing the entire campaign easily back when I was 11. I had a bout of nostalgia recently and downloaded it. I couldn't get past this mission. :(

You can sneak the two tunnelers across to the main gate without getting killed then they can take down the gate then move them to the side wall that's closest to the land and they can dig away the wall and remove to of the pots and a couple of guards, then if you take out the stairs you can take down the corner tower...with 2 men

Did it the exact same way, not sure what exploit you're talking about but yeah. For anyone else wondering the sappers/tunnel diggers and ladders are a red herring, you will go insane trying to use them, sending your spearmen in 2-3 waves is the other trick. As are the archers and crossbowmen another false sense of security, the 30 or so you get total will never make an impact. (Though I saved my crossbowmen until the macemen were on the second set of walls and had them seize a large turret to provide backup fire.) One minor thing I did differently was also position my archers and crossbowmen on the hill behind where you tuck all your troops waiting the enemy AI macemen. The hill gave them an accuracy boost, line of sight, range, etc. And that move of tucking away the ram but sending it in at the same time as the second siege tower with the mace-men horde. That is literally the trick, too much of a target-rich environment and as soon as the enemy crossbowmen are wiped off the second gate-house there is nothing to stop your ram. I still held 50-100 of my macemen back just in case and sent them in as a second wave, glad I did as the inferno waiting you right by the keep surprised me. (I didn't want to the end of the video like a moron.) Other than those very small alterations the video strat still works perfectly, even in HD. (I don't think they updated the AI just the graphics, first play-through in 10 years, lol.)

Very time consuming map if you wanna save your troops, took me about 3 hrs to come up with a strategy by constant experimenting (saving and loading) anyway what i did was arrow volley(cheesy) and clear out entire eastern wall, then filled moat on the eastern side safely and mounted seige towers on eastern walls then cleared outer bailey with mace-men, after that mounted all my archers over one of pigs inner bailey towers and took out remaining archers(i did not knew that inner bailey was filled with pitch ditches too, thank god i took the archers out first) and then just released a massive horde of mace-men and victory! took about 3 to 4 hrs but lost only 5% troops.

I've been trying to finish that mission for over a decade, by that I mean I gave up for decade and I've been trying for half, I think when I was eight I got all the way to to the last mission.

The part where you put the second siege tower is literally impossible for me because the crossbowmen/archers keep destroying it even after it is placed.

You have to send it in with the ram and also the macemen... 10-20 macement die but the ram absorbs some fire from the crossbowmen and as soon as the crossbowmen on the second gatehouse die nothing else really has a shot on it, and the AI will let the other archers and crossbowmen free-fire on your macemen storming the walls since the ram and siege tower are just a loose target, the macemen free-storming the walls are the priority target for the AI archers. It's all about that triple push.

Jeremy Monsanto I disagree the AI is set on "passive" for defense so don't expect much from it lol, i've seen a lot of good actions while defending against the AI remember it has been made in 2001. -Fireman

When you are digging the moat, they insist on digging the entire moat instead of the location you clicked on which I think wasn't really great. StarCraft was made in the90's along with C&C and other great RTS games. This is a great game and all, but the AI feels almost like an afterthought.
