I love their product. And the customer service is just out of this world. Never seen a better service in my 57 years of age.

Just purchased several sets. So I am watching all of your videos. The best way to take care of a tool is how the manufacturers of that tool do it. I can’t wait to try out your tools. I will be posting a video to my new KZbin channel JKSurvivalBushcraft. Would love to see your comments! Look for it in about a month!

For the final finish on leather with compound should I use the split side (more textured surface) then the smooth grain, with polishing compound, or the other way around? I should also use water at the final steps also, correct?
@BeaverCraftTools7 ай бұрын
On the rough side, it's better to use coarse-grain compounds, like the white and red ones. On the smooth side, use a finishing compound. Water should not be used on the strop, as it can damage the strop and cause the tool's blade to rust.

Hola la lija que utilizas, imagino que es para metal. No ?

So why wasn't the last step explained ? What is the green stuff, why did you think it need to be used, and why use I assumed a leather strop, and what does it do. Why did you use sand paper over stones?
@alekssorokoletov3 жыл бұрын
1. The last stage is the final polishing of the cutting edge. 2. "The green stuff" is an M7 polishing compound. beavercraft.com.ua/product/p2-big-polishing-compound-green-honing-paste-goi/ 3. Finishing on the leather allows you to quickly obtain a perfect edge without burrs. 4. Abrasive stones will gradually wear out and require dressing. The sanding pad is always fresh and even. Plus, it's much cheaper.

Ok. But why this i stead leather strop? I have same question.
@alekssorokoletov3 жыл бұрын
@@gerriklabra8962 Sorry, but I don't understand the question ... The video shows the whole process of sharpening a tool using sanding paper and leather with a polishing compound. Both paper and leather are attached to even boards so as not to spoil the factory sharpening angle. The leather itself does not sharpen steel, it only holds the abrasive compound.

Actually, the difference between sandpaper, water/oil stones, diamond plates, ceramic rods is insignificant. You simply need abrasive tools you're proficient at using. You also don't need all those different grit sizes. These do speed things up a bit if you know what you need, but it's possibile to get good results with fewer tools.

Seriously! I don't know why this guy doesn't just record audio. He keeps pointing at shit like we're supposed to just know what's going on, then he moves whatever the hell he's pointing around so much they you can't get a good look at it, but he continues putting it in front of the camera and pointing at it; and you get the feeling that he was explaining it right there as he's filming, but only to himself, apparently. He'd rather write subtitles describing the process of gluing sandpaper to wood - several times... - rather than give us any explanation of anything that wasn't sandpaper related.

What kind of glue should be used for gluing both sand paper or leather the the wood?

No me he enterado de nada. Con qué se afilan ,con lija al agua o con la cinta de cuero que trae el kit?. Gracias.

You can use both methods, Luz.

Not sure if I'm missing something here but in the thumbnail it clearly shows a leather strop and green compound but this video seems like its crafting strops from sandpaper and wood blocks. Seems like a disconnect. I bought a Beavercraft kit which includes a small leather strop and green compound and nowhere can I find any instruction on how to use just that to sharpen the knives.

It would be nice if one of these videos would tell you watch side to use on the beaver craft strop, or even if u can use both sides, and also how much pressure to apply. 🤦♂️
@BeaverCraftTools Жыл бұрын
Both sides of the leather stropping block are smooth which allows you to polish your blades perfectly! Please, start by applying it to the surface of the strop with the leather. After that put the blade on the leather paddle strop towards the handle. After adjusting it, pull towards the handle of the woodcarving knife sharpening. As advice, in case you want to have more "finish" results. You can apply the paste only on one side and sharpen the knife, after repeat the same but on the side without the paste.
@Mikeyfingers22 Жыл бұрын
@@BeaverCraftTools I don’t have the paddle kind I have just the leather strop so one side is rough and the other side is smooth. None of these videos tell you which side to use literally not one video on KZbin tells you what side to use and you still didn’t.
