Curious to see how Onshape exports structures like this. A cut list is nice for tracking information, but if I want to send this out to be laser cut what's the workflow? Additionally, some tubes have more complex bends than what you achieve with a typical bender. If I have a tube with a complex changing bend radius, how will that be communicated to a tube bending machine/laser cutter?

Hey Christian! Great question, and one that is fired in the right direction, we are working towards more tools in this area for manufacturing. In the current state of product you would want to create manufacturing files using tools like the derive to maintain a manufacturing item, this would be supported by the cut list and the drawing with assembly and weld instructions.

This is just amazing, really useful feature! I was using the beams feature already in the past and loved it but this is even next level! One question, is there a way to set the profile size from the variables? So all frame components can share the same size

I use Onshape as an app on my iPad Pro. I can’t find the “frames” feature to use it. Where is it please?

I can't offset the 3rd frame of the 8020 Cube-oid example like frames 1 and 2 do. Is there an option I am missing? I would like to have all 12 of my 8020 parts be inside my vertice edges of the scaffold shape. This appears to be a formal coding of the Beams FeatureScript, which I , as well as everyone I think, use extensively in OnShape. There have been many revisions of Beams , 28 was the last, trying to come up with a succinct and intuitive use model. The Webinar on the Frame feature started with great promise and looked great. I carefully followed the 8020 cube-oid example and ran into the same issue all 28 beams versions have. The third frame feature selects 4 edges to join the nicely created top and bottom frames. Those frames were offset by clicking on one of the 9 dots to be inset to the vertice edges of the cude-oid. This does not work for the third frame. They ALL offset in one direction. I noticed the demo picked the center reference nicely avoiding the issue 😐 But how do we know you want to offset the 3rd Frame set inwards to the cube-oid? I hear you say. Because that was the use model for the top and bottom frame set. Having a frame with the insets or outsets treated uniformly is the simplest use model in my opinion. Allowing the selection of the 6 faces and having them move in or out of the enclosed space and then picking butt joint offsets and trim options would allow more flexibility. It would also mean a frame with one profile could be done in ONE frame. I appreciate that the cube-oid example is a simple case. An option to select offset matrice and rotation handles on each element would also work. Maybe it exists already?

Hey MacPython I will pass some of your feedback to the R&D team. My intuition on some of your comments is that we are working on it, and what is there now is there for a reason. A lot of the time with frames packing a lot of design intent into a single feature is complicated, and the quickest and simplest solution is to create a second feature. For example the offset is going to be something that would take two features right now to define that second or third direction.

Two questions.... 1. How do I hide the "envelope" in the drawing? - I can do this in the Part Studio, but it does not retain its state in the drawing. 2. When I try and add the cut list to the drawing it says "composite parts are required to insert cut list tables"

Just figured this out and it solves both issues. When you import the view, click the "composite parts" icon - its 3 cubes stacked in a pyramid formation.

Thank you for the video. The demonstration was to small. No need for your images. Zoom in on important elements. I watched on a large screen, and familiar enough with OnShape to follow along, but if I was new to OnShape and on a phone or tablet, it just wouldn't be viewable. OnShape is a great product. The video, adequate but not great.
