You forgot to include the assumed weight of concrete pad to be included in the Pu. The explanation is very clear btw.

What BS code states the limits for the depth?

Marvelous videos. What is the name of the fonts you are using in this specific video?

sir should the loads not be factored before determining required plan area foundation which would give a higher value than 2650mm width? The allowable bearing pressure is exceeded once the loads are factored. thanks.

the used soil permisible strength (bp=100kn/m^2) is already factored from the ultimate soil strength b-ult.

Was there a reason for using SLS loading to determine the area of the footing and not ULS? Also wouldn't you reduce the bearing capacity of the soil to allow of a safety factor for variability of the soil strength?
@telestruct2 жыл бұрын
For geotechnical design of foundation ared unfactored loads with ALLOWABLE soil bearing capacityto be used. For structural design of foundation, soil pressure from factored loads will be used to determine adequate depth and rebars area.

Please make a video to explain how to calculate depth of anchor bolt in concrete base, thanks👍👍👍

Thanks for this content. Would these calculations work for a much smaller pad foundation, for example, a pad foundation supporting a suspended timber frame for something like a garden room? Would the principles remain similar even though the pad might only be say 200 x 200 maybe 600 deep?
@StructuralEngineerCalcs Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment and question! The principles discussed in the video can certainly be applied to smaller pad foundations, such as those supporting a suspended timber frame for a garden room. While the specific dimensions may vary, the fundamental concepts remain the same. When designing a smaller pad foundation, you would follow a similar process of determining the total loads, calculating the required area based on permissible bearing pressure, and finding suitable dimensions for the pad foundation. The principles of moment equilibrium and reinforcement design can also be applied, considering the specific loads and dimensions of the smaller foundation. It's important to note that the calculations may differ based on the specific requirements, material properties, and design codes applicable to your situation. Therefore, it is recommended to consult with a qualified structural engineer or use appropriate design resources to ensure the foundation is designed correctly for your specific application. We hope this helps! If you have any further questions or need additional information, please let us know.

the units are incorrect? 700kN/100KN/m^2 = 7 ? /m^2
