I’m more than a bit surprised that they didn’t put any Truck members in the attics of the adjoining exposures to check for possible extension. Is it not the local practice to cut a vent hole in a flat roof in top floor fires?

Do you see those structures going vertically to the roof? Those are fire walls - have to be burning for a while to get past them

@@Derekva40 Yes I saw them, and they appeared to work quite well. But how can you tell from the street that their integrity is not compromised in any way? I would imagine that there are 2 Truck Companies on the scene, and if so, I very much doubt that both were committed to the attic of the fire building. If they are on the scene why not use them to be proactive rather than reactive?

sadly real fire-walls do not exist, they are made to slow down the spread of a fire not prevent the spread of a fire. However, the cost of materials to make aa real true fire-wall is in the 10s of thousands of dollars and no insurance company in the world would want to handle fire damage claims because of it. Most the material is for government use only so getting your hands on it as a contractor is pretty much impossible, unless you have millions to buy the rights to such.

@@mikemuppet3807 Then how would you call 6-8’’ thick concrete wall, from basement floor up to 8’’ above the roof? A row house project was built this way a few years ago about half a mile from my house, must be very good soundproofing as well.The construction is standard: Wooden trusses, asphalt shingles, gyproc,etc. But your’e right, it all comes down to $$$$. Be good.
