Jason, I started as a JRFF 33yr ago, I am 3rd Gen FF and now I have my 4 kids on the department along with my wife, oldest son is now a LT & EMT, and my two youngest are Juniors my daughter loves it. Our JR's ride the equipment to the scene and are limited to what they are allowed to do but it is the excitement that keeps them interested, 1 of my JR's just finished her EMT. JR's are our future if we are going to keep the vollie service alive!!!

Love the addition of the engine camera Jason, Not only does it give a different perspective to us, but its a Great tool for you as well to see how the drivers respond to the scenes.

Jason, in my opionion, of ALL of your vids, THIS is the BEST yet bro. Not sure how things there work, but the BEST part of this vid is the big guy in blue from the ambulance crew. Here in coastal Mississippi, AMR is local ambulance staff. But that guy REALLY stepped up. Dragging lines and checking SCBA's and replacinging them. He is a TRUE member of the "safety first!!!!" team in my book bro!!!!! As a Chief, you BETTER be proud of your ENTIRE team brother! I would be a proud member!!!! Thank YOU

Junior Firefighter. We have some of them, they are under 18 and still in school. If they have good grades then when they graduate they get a scholarship from us. They are allowed to assist on scenes but have limited duties. Age is 14 to 18. Most of them that start at 14 are certified Firefighters when they turn 18.

I'm a firefighter too, and I understand the urgency.. What kind of truck do you have that can take corners like that?? 65 in a truck is pretty fast depending how you have it set up.. Not bitching, that was a hell of a ride I just saw...That rig is smooth as hell around those corners, I'm impressed

Does your FD use a Motorola Minitor IV or V? We just got new Minitors IV. They are great?? Next we need new Turnout Gear. Our pagers were 6 thousand dollars for 10. I am a firefighter from a town of 700. Not much action. We get about 2 or 3 a year if we are lucky. Most Ag. Fires or MVCs.
@JASON8502
@JASON8502 7 жыл бұрын
We use very little pagers these days but do have a few of those. All our responses come over our phone like the pagers. We use two apps, Fire Text Response and Active 911. Works great. You might look into Globe gear, they are doing a giveaway grant right now for gear. Free grant, might as well try.

MILTON FIRE & RESCUE How do you like Active 911? We use eDispatches and we hate it. If we didn’t have radios for each firefighter we’d never have anybody responding.

I completely agree with you about paramedics risking themselves as much as anyone else. I was not trying to critizize his actions, just that everyone on a scene has there role to play, the paramedics is to help the injured, and save lives, the paramedic in this clip is trying to help, I know that, but if he goes down then, he is making a bad situation even worse, he now cannot help anyone, and all resources on scene have to change tactics and save one of there own.

What you guys need to understand is that this camera shutter speed is not quick enough to capture the scenery in real time. That is why it looks like he is travelling so fast. I am a Lieutenant of 5 years on my department and we have the same issue with our camera. Our trucks are all governed at 68 mph.

This is a Fire truck that is governed at 65 mph. Not sure how that is too fast?? Plus, you cannot see the speedometer so how do you even know how fast it was going? If this was your house or your family then you would be asking us what took so long when we got there. Happens every time.

What should be considered is that the FD is Volunteer. EMS (and/or PD is paid)....If I was a Paid Medic or Paid Officer in my hometown, I'd join the Volunteer FD!! Since all three services would respond to a structure fire and be there simultaneously, who wouldn't pitch in and help within reason to what gear they have?? In Rural areas it a necessity.

Is this the Joplin, MO Fire Department? I used to live in Missouri, but don't know much about the US Hwy 42, so do not mind my asking, as I always try mto read the sign's as you zip by them, punishment for my eyes I guess. But I agree, if this bores you, then should go elsewhere. Anytime the fire Fighters and Police Men are hero's in my way of thinking. Good Video, Thank you for presenting it.

Just like another video from a different department when the truck arrived on the scene, a police officer was pulling the line and heading toward the burning structure. Their intentions are good, but like you say, if they get hurt, it makes a bad situation worse. A paramedic's job is to stand by in case someone is hurt, and the police is to direct traffic and keep unauthorized people away from the scene.

Its going to take even longer if your all killed or involved in an accident. Slow is smooth and smooth is fast. If their are no victims entrapped, you still need to get their fast but nothing to kill any number of firefighters over a lost photo book.
