Well said Don! Unfortunately 99% of the people think spoonplugging is someone that just trolls spoonplugs. You explained it perfectly!

Don. Great job. You're an excellent teacher. I have a question: can I troll Rapalaa and Mepps and Dardevles to find and catch fish? Thanks. I trust you feel better.

Can’t wait for the next one, Don! I’ll always associate the spoonplug lure, with the name of the methodology, “spoonplugging.” It’s just my mental connection. But I also realize it’s a total mindset of strategy and tactics, combined. Now, I agree with you on the notion that the name is misleading, or confounding. I encounter that when people hear it.. They either don’t know what it is at all, have it completely wrong, or think it’s some outdated waste of time. Would I change the name? If this were1946, and in hindsight, possibly. But not today. I like it the way it is.

Hi don and ann love your class there is much to be learned and much more ahead i am sure. I do have a question about your pro structure boat i know they dont make them anymore but i come across one thats comparable to it. a arrowglass 72 14ft so do you think this boat will suit the needs of structure fishing and what set up can i build to help in this. Any help would be appreciated. Thx wyle

Hey Wyle, thanks for the comments. I wrote a blog about the types of boats - here's the link: wordpress.com/post/dondicksonfishingcom.wordpress.com/239 and also this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/hpfMe4WAbaeYr6s this should help you choose the right boat.

Why do people who spoonplug never talk about fishing for suspended fish? It's always about bumping the bottom never just running through open water.
@DonDicksonFishing3 жыл бұрын
First of all, I have no idea what other people do or say, but let me answer the question about suspended fish? I am assuming you are talking about the species of fish that suspend vertically! That would include Stripers, White Bass,Trout, Salmon, crappie, bluegill,and even in some cases the Walleye! When any of these fish become active, they suspend and it's a simple matter too spot these fish on your depth sounder, and go to work. Unfortunately, one of the common misconceptions, is that these fish are just swimming around in open water! Nothing could be further from the truth. When fish become active, and suspend vertically towards the surface, they are always suspended over a bottom feature, which we refer to as structure. When this suspension takes place, it's always during an activity period, in other words the fish are very easy to catch. Keep in mind when these fish suspend,, it will always be in relationship to a structure, break, or breakline! Hope this begins to explain it. Warmest regards, DD
