Each skeletal muscle fiber is a single cylindrical muscle cell. An individual skeletal muscle may be made up of hundreds, or even thousands, of muscle fibers bundled together and wrapped in a connective tissue covering. Each muscle is surrounded by a connective tissue sheath called the epimysium. The detailed structure of skeletal muscles along with sliding filament model has been discussed in this video lecture. The detail of ultrastructure of myofibrils and #myofilaments are also the part of this lecture. The contractile unit #sarcomere is also the point of discussion in this lecture.
