For seven years, I struggled to breathe. I went to a medical doctor, begging for help for my shortness of breath. She ordered lung function tests which showed I had major breathing issues. However, despite the tests results, the doctor dismissed my medical issues and told me I was a drug addict. #lifewithavent #medicalgaslighting #lungfunction

That is sickening and just not acceptable!! How awful that a doctor who is a professional specialist ASSUMES that you had a wild lifestyle with drugs. In thier many years of "education" don't they tell them NEVER pass judgment unless they have medical proof to back it up?

Thank you for sharing. Unfortunately, not passing judgment is usually not taught.

I'm so sorry this happened to you! I'm an Audiologist and Speech Therapist and I ALWAYS refer to specialists if there is some unusual result OR if needed I ALWAYS refer for further testing before coming to an abrupt conclusion just like that! I am so sorry that this happened to you and you deserved better from the medical community

That first physician demeaned you, accused you of a non-existent habit and crime, and also said you held back on your test. To me, this is not gaslighting it is a complete disregard for their patient and fellow human being and I just don't know how a person like this gets into medical practice nor how they stay there. Her actions caused you to suffer for 6 more years till you had an encounter with a physician who took you seriously. The first physician must have never heard of the "Hippocratic Oath" Take Care, God Bless Russ

Thank you for sharing. Unfortunately, when some doctors do not know what is wrong with a patient, instead of admitting they do not know, it is easier to accuse the patient of wrong-doing. The Hippocratic Oath is usually not adhered to. The original oath pledges a person to swear by all gods and goddesses of Greek mythology. It also states a student will help his teacher if the teacher falls into financial trouble. And there are many other things in the original oath. Some schools do have an ethical code they asked their graduates to take a pledge to, but many institutes do not have such an oath.

It’s quite scary to think that such doctors exist…and they most certainly do…the Profession should do more to weed these sorts of people out….shouldn’t be practicing medicine

Thank you for sharing some of your story with me. I hope all goes well with radiation and beating the cancer. I have a chronic, progressive medical condition called Mitochondrial Disease. It affects my muscles and most of my organs. As far as drug use, I have never done drugs in my life. The medical doctor in the video decided since I had many symptoms and irregular test results, the only thing which could explain it was drug use. In reality, I have a chronic, progressive medical condition which was causing all the issues.

Hello. I am on a ventilator 24/7. But sometimes I use my Bipap machine because my Doctor says it helps me to be weaned off. But I have a problem. Why does my Bipap keep beeping and saying mask blocked when I am using a tracheostomy? Need help

Thank you for sharing. Please ask your doctor, your respiratory therapist or the company manages your ventilator about this issue. They will need to adjust the settings on the machine.

That is a great question. Please ask your primary care provider or lung doctor. They would be more qualified than I am to answer this question.

Do you have problems breathing through your nose?
@zeftlovescats2433
@zeftlovescats2433 Ай бұрын
People with a trach do have a harder time doing that I think, since it's the last airway available technically l

@timcepin3386 I do not have problems breathing through my nose.
@LifewithaVent
@LifewithaVent Ай бұрын
@zeftlovescats2433 You are correct. With a tracheostomy tube (and a fully functional upper airway), less air travels through the nose. The nose still works, and air still passes through it; however, the amount of air which passes through will be less. If a person has an obstructed upper airway (such as a collapsed airway or a very narrowed airway) and needs a tracheostomy tube to breathe, it may be very hard to breathe through the nose because not enough air is passing through it.

Awful, you should let the Doctor know how bad lying is when it comes to this type of thing.
