I just discovered you a few days ago and i’ve been binging on and loving your content. One thing that struck me as “gold” is how to bridge big thoughts with your brain by taking smaller steps (paraphrased here). I’ve been struggling with my style because of my weight - currently my style is anything that I feel like covers my apple abdomen and feeling very frumpy. I’m currently working on weight loss and it truly struck home that I need to stop reminding myself (and my brain) how much I have to lose and take smaller thoughts like “I can make good choices for today” or “I can make good choices for the next 3 days” or “my next goal is to lose 3 more lbs” etc. THANK YOU‼️ I’m working on finding my style and feeling good about what I wear while also working on my weight loss journey.

Kristen, thank you for making us feel good about donating new and once worn items. Like you say , we feel great when coming across a fabulous piece also. It helps letting go easier.

I continue to appreciate your reiteration of the role perfectionism plays in every aspect of the wardrobe I have and don’t have. Love any and all of your references to “our fantasy self.”

Thank you for your comment. There will be much more to come on perfectionism and style.

I think we all deal with the clothing pieces that is in the "maybe" pile and personally I'd rather mull it over than go on a major purge and feel regretful. Seller's remorse is maybe worse than buyer's remorse I've found. It's personality style too and I'd rather hang on to it and think it through than end up repurchasing. It's individualized I believe. Thanks Kristen. Good topic!

Such a well-investigated, organized and presented video, Kristin! Brava!!! (And this is coming from a behavioral health specialist who's been pursuing downsizing/decluttering/minimalizing as an ongoing process this summer.) Videos of this nature have been enormously helpful and reinforcing, to the tune of 9 donated clothing bags (tall kitchen garbage size) this summer--atop 5 last year AND at least 3-4 TRASHED bags. (The basement storage is next. 🥴) Thank you and ROCK ON!...Oh, I AM A PERFECTIONIST!

Wow! Thank you so much for your kind words. Means so much to me when I hear how helpful one of my videos is for someone else. Congratulations on your awesome progress!!

10 years I have been holding on to this swim cover which was expensive. I have never used it. The fantasy holiday experience has not come my way yet. 😮🤔😆. I think it’s time to let go

Or, learn to think about its use another way! A robe, or a topper over jeans? I’m using mine as PJs😂

Thanks for the way you are phrasing things. Makes more sense to me, though I've heard bits of the same info before

Thank you it helped encourage me to let go of trousers that are too small, shirts in unflattering colours

I find it absolutely still causes me stress if I hold on to things that I don’t wear for idea that I might wear them. Even if I fold them up and box them up and store them away, in the back of my mind they are still there. The things I have gotten rid of I rarely think of them even again. Now that I watched your channel I am getting rid of them all. Thank you 🩷

I can relate to so much of what you said. There's a combination of somehow thinking that if I keep it I'll use it (and make it worth the money spent) and fantasy self.

I think the phrase "getting rid of..." is my obstacle. I reframe it to be "letting it go..." to maybe someone who will love it. It seems less negative.

I can identify with the person loving cashmere in Arizona. I have been retired for two years and I still like to purchase dressy work clothes but I never wear them because I don’t go anywhere. Shifting my mindset has been a struggle.

Same with me. Retired for a year and a half and I gravitate toward work clothes when shopping. I’m slowly starting to go for more relaxed pieces of clothing but what I find harder is shoes - so many lovely pairs of shoes that I would have no occasions to wear.

Love your comment and your @lynerichards5306! I think the place to start is with really defining how you want to look at this stage of your life. It's a beautiful new chapter and a perfect time to rediscover how you want to look and feel in your clothes. Good luck!

My problem is the clothing that I do like but don't wear. How can I get rid of these items?
@KristenCainStyle2 ай бұрын
The question is why aren't you wearing those pieces? Really explore your reasons (the thoughts that come up) for not wearing items you own and like. Often it's lifestyle or confusion about how to wear them. You don't need to get rid of them if they are viable options that would support you right now. 💕
@RobinQuartin2 ай бұрын
Seems the question to ask is - are you going to wear it now? If not, get rid of it.

Thank you for your feedback. Likely there are lots of others on YT sharing the same info more concisely. I find that I (and my clients) tend to need to hear concepts and solutions many times before taking action.
