It use to be a route to a relatively cheap holiday, not anymore, the cost per night on some sites is extortionate especially when you compare to the continent.

Totally agree no longer caravan in the UK due to over priced sites and bad weather.

Honest summaty from a Dealer of where the market is at the moment. Thank you Darren .

Id guess that the best time to buy a " new " caravan is just before the caravan show at the NEC. Dealers probably wanting rid of their previous years display models that they cant sell as brand new but still give the full warranty

Your so right people are feeling the pinch what with the cost of living high (supermarkets say prices are coming down not on everyday essentials there not ) same goes for the caravan market. prices for new caravans are a lot of money . Money that people haven’t got or won’t borrow because what with interest rates high ,higher mortgages,rents people can’t afford to pay these prices for new or second hand caravans that’s why there’s a lot of new and used caravans at dealerships,I wouldn’t buy a new caravan after seeing the problems a friend of mine is having with his new caravan ?

Do you think it could be as people down size their vehicles or switch to electric cars, also wondering if the excess deaths and increased disability also affecting supply and demand...

I just paid £6000 for a 2009 coachman VIP fixed bed single axel, very condition with recent service. Wondering now if I should have waited for prices to come down...

Hi, I don’t think that would come down by much, it’s done most of it’s depreciating, I think the prices have levelled out now. You have the normal buyers remorse we all get, that’s about right for that caravan. The key is getting value on the purchase, use it often and enjoy it and it’s money well spent.

Prices are coming down in Australia, when we bought our van 6 months ago they were only on the market for a week or two, now they have dropped around 5K AUD and are taking months to sell.

It’s interesting that it’s not just a UK issue…

The prices on the sites are another factor….a decent place in Dorset want £20 a day for a basic pitch…

Definitely, the cost of electricity is having a squeeze on both ends. My bill at the dealership has shot up, we have to make it back somehow..

But way cheaper than a hotel for a night plus you can make all your meals in a caravan and save more money

@@seanmorgan4099 Very true my friend but the price of an electric hook up in Dorset on a decent pitch is approaching £30 and more in high season.

more like £30 a night

“Dealers had to make some money while the sun shone” what because of the pandemic! I appreciate your honesty but it’s what the public already knew,you reap what you sow sunshine,no one will have any sympathy with caravan/motorhome dealers and manufacturers that have fleeced the public through these last few years.
@atlanticcaravansUK3 ай бұрын
It’s not about having sympathy for the dealers, and there isn’t a market in the world that doesn’t increase (or reduce discounting) prices when demand is high, it’s not fleecing, it’s business. This effects everyone, if your local dealer goes under it may effect you, if you’re trying to sell a caravan privately or to the trade, it will effect the price you get for it, if you can sell it at all. I’m just saying, don’t be surprised if you can’t sell at the moment.
