I've got a 2007 Bailey Peageant Provence and like you said, everything works. However, I have replaced the water pump and fan heater. I didn't buy the Truma fan motor but an aftermarket one one Ebay for £20, works a treat. My battery did blow up which burnt out the wiring center. When I think of it, do you know where I can buy them Molex connectors? Do you also do electrical repairs? I bought a new PDU but wanted to see if I could get the old one fixed. This is my first caravan and I do love it, the freedom and being surrounded by nature. Thanks for sharing. What caravan would I like? The Buccaneer Barracuda or Coachman top-of-the-range one. The only reason why? I'm a plumbing and heating engineer and I love my gadgets. I like underfloor heating to keep the floor dry and more balanced heat. The settings 1 to 9 on this Truma heater don't give me a temperature reading so it's up and down, very dry air I find with these heaters. The others have solar and self-levelling. They have a bigger fridge freezer so I don't need extra storage which the Pageant doesn't provide. They look more modern and have an island bed with storage underneath and his and her wardrobes. I like the modern look of the new caravans. Everything is covered with cheap pine veneer in my caravan, and everything is the same colour. I don't like the bumpy bits on the seats, it restricts your sleeping space and I must say I didn't know you were supposed to turn them upside down. I'm 6 foot so my head was okay on one side but my knees were up in the air on the bottom side, due to that lump. I like the L-shaped lounge, and onboard water storage. I want to install a 50l water tank so I can heat that and shower with one tank of water. There are a lot of things I would change about caravans. The best thing is to work alongside people who own them, live in them, and like you someone with valuable knowledge and experience you share. Cheers! I'll look at the course you're selling

Great video. The Europeans make things look good on the packaging but when you get the real thing it's nothing like it. Kind of like the burgers you get at uncle Donalds. Diesel emission scandal, rather than produce sound engineering. I'll stick with British engineering, but the problem is our caravan suppliers all ship in European heating systems, fridges, and American toilets. We need an all-English caravan manufacturer and everything built, designed and engineered at home to the most amazing specs available. Why produce caravans to a certain spec? Do you know what I think we should do. Start a crowdfunding project where we ask everyone who wants to buy a caravan to choose the best layout, heating options, solar and other options and then choose the 5 most popular designs, people put down their deposit and start building it

We are new in the market and we watch your videos with great interest. However, it really puts us off making our first purchase. We were really liking the Elddis Affinity 550, but after listening to your comments on that manufacturer, it’s probably not gonna happen. So….as an expert in the retail side, if you were buying your first caravan. What would you suggest for around 18 - 22k? Bear in mind we want a rear island bed layout, but other than that we are fairly flexible. Keep up the good work 👍🏻👍🏻
@atlanticcaravansUK17 күн бұрын
Hi, it’s a tricky one, but from a technical point of view I’d say Swift, they all have issues so as long as you know what to look for or buy from a dealer when you get warranty you’ll be okay, but I would say away from the Elddis on balance.
@mikethorpe657220 күн бұрын
It was great to here someone talking common sence for once. We had an Elddis Crusader with the Solid construction and what a load of rubbish it was. We sold it 7 years ago and brought a Knaus Starclass from new which is in a different league regarding build, if Elddis could build a van as good they would be market leaders but I cannot see it happening.

I use the kit I made up to drain down the pipes as shown in this video:- kzbin.info/www/bejne/pKLamJdvn8lgjMk . There's many video's on KZbin showing you how to do it safely. You can of coarse buy a ready made kit for £50-£60 that comes with the how to DVD video, But I just bought an extra water pipe, went do to local tyre garage and they gave me a free valve & jubilee clip, total cost less than £20's for the kit. I am not sure its a good idea to run the caravan pump when it's dry.

We had this problem with our mover. Unfortunately we had bent the locating spindle's on each side because we hadn't been locating the bar properly. We replaced both spindles (easy to do) and bought a new bar. The mover works well now. Advice from Power touch was to grease the mover every 6 months with Motor cycle chain lube.
@steveholmes4329Ай бұрын
Thank you Amanda for your reply I will have to give the grease a try and see if it eases off 😊
@amandaminett9337Ай бұрын
Our mover used to creak and was stiff hence the bending of the spindles and handle. When we sprayed the motorcycle chain lube onto the moving parts as recommended it was so much easier. I'm really careful now that the bar is fully located on the spindles. The instructions for this are on the powertouch website.

My old 1995 Lunar never let me down, however, in my 2012 Coachman VIP the Truma Combi shut down on a trip. I managed to get it fired up on gas but not on 230v. Back home local engineer diagnosed element failure, he took heater away and brought it back, said elements changed but not working needed new PCB. I told him I wasn't paying for the elements in that case, so he walked off the job. After viewing a number of U-tube videos came across one that showed a hidden overheat reset button, not the main reset one. I poked a screwdriver down a hole as shown and heard a click. Connected 230v, switched heating on and it worked, so connected aquaroll, filled water tank and turned heater on, left for 30 mins and I had hot water. Would never have those issues with the old Carver unit in the Lunar.

@iangrice329Ай бұрын
They have cheaped out on the bar, most othe versions use a proper hex and supply an extending wheel brace. This is a bent bit of tube with 2 flats stamped in it and they have the nervous charge £15 for it 🤬 This is what's wrong with everything in the world. Uter greed.

I started looking into weights after looking to buy a new PHEV car, and being told that it can’t tow anything above 1350kg (train weight). My confusion was with the fact it stated kerb weight as 1900kg, using 85% CAMC advice this took my van well in but exceeded train weight. Does kerb weight have any relevance now.
@atlanticcaravansUKАй бұрын
It is a safety issue, but not a legal one, so it is still relevant, but in your case it actually helps the safety issue as it’s so heavy. It would be interesting to see what the vin plate on the car actually says, and who is saying it can’t tow and why?
