How do you strum this song? Thumb base notes and then index for the rest or are you using all of your fingers to strum the higher notes. I’ve been trying to learn the Elliott smith strum style for a decade. I can do a lot of the fingerpicking, but the strumming with index or other fingers has always confused me

That's pretty much exactly what it is on this one, also I'm kind of combining the guitars because it's 2 guitars, so bass note down with thumb and plucking up with index finger on high string at the same time to get that kind of lead note and then strumming with index finger also.
