My advice: splurge on linens, pillows and down comforters. Decorate via garage sales, goodwill, Salvation Army and FB marketplace, can’t go wrong. Has worked famously for us.

I love white porcelain platters, bowls, etc in a kitchen…feels gourmet, clean lines, blah blah blah. So the dishes are a lovely choice, but I chose a different more cost effective path. We have Dollar Tree in both our home town and STR town. They carry clear glass plates, salad plates, salad bowls, water glasses, wine glasses, champagne glasses, beer pounders, coffee mugs. The cost allowed us to purchase far too many for the house of each initially…cupboards stocked and backups at the ready for breakage. Clean look, easy care and at $1 each it’s inexpensive for a startup. For our holiday house setup, we just add chargers and placemats/napkins for color splashes that make a fine festive table. I love the Costco white towels for the bathrooms. Again readily available, inexpensive, and unless you are a Luxury listing, the quality is quite pleasing (thick, absorbent, soft). In fact, there is a lot at Costco to use for STR setups. I would also suggest the Neutrogena makeup wipes that are individually wrapped. I leave a qty based on the stay length in a candy dish on the bathroom counter. I also have black makeup only towels but ladies like the single use wipes and they comment often…not cheap but an added bonus “amenity” that gets noticed.
