Instead of using an impact gun to remove the strut nut, use a thru-hole socket wrench and a 1/4" drive socket set to hold the strut piston shaft while using the thru-hole wrench to remove the nut. This method prevents any possible damage to the internal strut seals which can happen if the nut has corrosion or when the nut is the locking type.

I wouldn't say this concept is unique to Canada and seems odd for you to specify that even if Shawn is in Canada. You do realize there are FAR more people in the "back country" of the US who also do shit themselves and since KZbin is an American website, you can just be more general to make more sense.

Also with a bad bearing u will hear it clunking first for a while, steering will become harder, with a seized bearing u won't be able to turn wheel at all has nothing to do with spring, the reason this guys spring is jumping is because it's not seated properly on bottom there is a raised notch the spring end sits against and if it doesn't it will jump around on bottom seat when turning wheel

Lol, I would agree. Go with a late model, German engineered, produced elsewhere car. Or a nice 1994-2007 pickup truck. Dope vehicles. Otherwise, anything pre-98 is cool. You can pick up a good body mercury mystique for around $1000 landed. Another $5K is repairs & engine work gives you a brand new package with older trim & carpet. Honestly, you can import a 200hp, 2.0L, n/a, Ford engine (designed in germany, built in the UK) for like $5000 CAD- landed. The base-model crate engines from burton racing or whatever are like $2000 CAD. If you get a domestic rebuild, it could be like $750 pick up in the midwest USA. There is also a shop in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada that can rebuild anything but have experience with formula 4-cylinders & over-repairing engine blocks & etc. Must be hundreds of shops that can get a beast for the price of a new camry.

Most auto parts stores loan out the spring compressors! Have you ever used a spring compressor? They're pretty easy to use. If you have any difficulty using one then you shouldn't be working on cars. It's a tool that's easily learned by an average mechanic. It saves you a small amount of $ compared to fully assembled units.

Buying the whole spring assembly is the way to go because your done the job in 30 minutes per side all is good for years to come. labor is higher than parts so get it done right way the first time.
@miublu24678 жыл бұрын
Ya but the whole factory spring assembly costs a fortune since u have to buy all parts separate, unless your talking about aftermarket coil overs which still cost way more then replacing a strut cartridge or top mount bearing, plus it's so easy to do u only have to do like 4 more steps to replace cartridge compared to whole spring assembly
