It was an absolute pleasure to spend time with you Usman, and we’re over the moon that you enjoyed the ev¹ :) The Vision Pro demo is our first experiment in using different input devices to control the ev¹’s smart hardware, perfectly paired with our Co-Pilot feature. We hope to keep pushing the boundaries to introduce features that make a real difference. We’ll be working hard to incorporate all your feedback!

My wife has ALS, we need this tech sooner than later. Can’t wait to see some of this hit the market, maybe even with Permobil. Thanks for the video 😊

My pleasure. I hope she finds a solution that works for her soon! I believe there are some eye gaze systems for Permobil. hub.permobil.com/blog/alternative-drive-controls-single-switch-scanning-eye-gaze

Do, you see the backup camera in the vision pro? That would be really cool. I have noticed. that it can be very straining to the eyes when looking at other screens through the vision pro.

That is an amazing idea and it would definitely make it less straining on the eyes if the display and backup camera were mirrored in the Vision Pro!

What do you mean by "click", do you have a physical switch available? Can you do selections by just gazing/dwell at the elements? I think this is a revolutionary first step, I'm thinking we need this kind of HUD in AR glasses rather than this kind of pass-through XR because you'd never want to experience your life through a pass-through video stream. I think the self-driving, obstacle avoidance is cool but it adds complexity and fail risks. And you'd really wanna avoid the feel that someone else is driving you around and taking decisions, that's why most of us choose a power wheelchair when we can't roll around in a manual wheelchair ourselves - we don't want anyone else to push our wheelchair and loose our autonomy. Nonetheless I'm thrilled by this development, this is in line with what I've been dreaming of for the last two years.

On the Vision Pro, to select an item you’re looking at in your screen, you have to look at it and then pinch two fingers to select it. Because I cannot pinch, I can dwell my focus on the selected item for a 1/4 of a second and it will select it for me. There’s also ways to use this dwell control to scroll, pinch and zoom. And to your point about obstacle avoidance, it’s not something that would be ON all the time. You can turn it on at the push of a button when you know you’re in a crowded/tight area and you want it to assist you. This mode also significantly limits your speed, so you would not likely stay in this mode permanently. There’s also a middle option that doesn’t limit the speed too much but it does stop you if you’re about to encounter an obstacle. It just doesn’t guide you around it.

Manual WC user here but have a Permobil F3 as well. That looks cool, but let's be real, the first time you bail out of that thing you're losing a $3500 headset. It also looks extremely cheap.

When controlling via Vision Pro or in glide mode, it travels very slowly (less than 2mph). It also avoids obstacles and drops (curbs). Falling out would be pretty difficult.
