While Jesus was saying these things, one of the women in the crowd raised her voice and said to Him, “Blessed is the womb that bore You and the breasts at which You nursed.” But He said, “On the contrary, blessed are those who hear the word of God and observe it.” Luke 11:27

If Mary was really going to appear, don’t you think she would have some sort of teaching or warning to both avoid being worshiped (instead of Jesus) and also to encourage/warn via speech? How does Mary showing up in a piece of burnt toast bring worship to her Son or edify the Father?

I found Greg's understanding of things very good. I was raised as a Roman Catholic, but in the Vatican II time frame. I would say Greg's explanation sounds spot on to me. As a kid, I just went along with what I was taught about Mary, and the various apparition testimonies. However when I got older, went to college and took a class on World Religions, then and there my journey to question everything, about all faiths and traditions was born. In my 20s I was a lax Catholic, in my 30s I returned to the Catholic Church, in my 40s my faith started waning again, and now in my 50s, I finally get why there are a lot of people leaving the Catholic church, and many churches are closing, and not many young men are studying to be priests. There is so much confusion about what is TRUE and was is false teaching in Christendom. It's sad, but not really a shocker. About 20 years ago or so I questioned the Marian devotion and I haven't been involved in it ever sense. What Greg mentions here about how Jesus addresses things was very helpful for me in my faith journey. I will continue to listen to podcasts and watch videos and see what else I glean from Greg's wisdom.

There is also the phenomenon called Pareidolia where people will see patterns of light and shadows as being faces or human shapes as well.

Mary Worship is the same as Queen of Heaven.(Semiramis and Tammuz, Mother baby) With all her other female roles/names around the world. From Babylon. Jesus the Christ is our one and only Saviour, only Begotten Son of our Father. *_God Bless_*

I am a Roman Catholic, and not one of my Roman Catholic friends love Mary more than Jesus. We were not raised that way as Catholics, and it is not taught in our Catholic Church, or by the Catholic Schools I went to. We were never taught to love Mary more than Jesus or to put her above Him. I was surprised to hear him say there are lots of Roman Catholics who love Mary more than Jesus, and I'm not denying it's not true, but I have never seen it. We have reverence for Mary, and worship is strictly for God.

I was raised as and educated as roman catholic. I was taught to pray the rosary, told it was given to us by Mary who instructed us to pray it. The rosary was ten Hail Marys per 1 our father. That's a lot of praying we did TO Mary. At that time (early 1960's) we were told to pray TO Mary. my understanding is the pope's new explanation is that we petition Mary but don't pray to her. Today I find it impossible to believe that Mary would have us spend more time talking to her than her Son.

Great discussion👍In these so-called “Marion apparitions”,Mary has the uncharacteristic habit of promoting herself! Even the Holy Spirit didn’t come to glorify Himself but Christ-John 16:14.Others have had so-called apparitions of angels such as Muhammad and Joseph Smith for example. But the apostle Paul says that even satan can transform himself into an angel of light-2 Corinthians 11:14.So one would have to ask what is the real reason for this apparition? Will if it’s appearing in the communion cup, then that in itself is giving credence to the mass and transubstantiation, which are unbiblical-Hebrews 10:11-14.The prophet Isaiah said;”…if they do not speak according to this Word it is because there is no light in them”.Everything must be judged by the Word of God📖✝️

Let’s follow Mary’s words, giving ultimate authority to her Son: “His mother said to the servants, ‘Whatever He says to you, do it.’” John 2:5: Follow Mary’s example: “And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior.” Luke 1:47: Mary’s attitude was always to place the focus on her Son. It all comes down to this: “…that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;” Romans 10:9

Was the question, why does mother Mary appear instead of Jesus? Jesus probably sends her as a warning that the end of times is near. Yet, we are STILL sinning not repenting not living the commandments. That's my view. ✌

Every generation has thought the end is near, for 2,000 years. Supposed appearance is Mary have existed that long. So, what gives? Also, why Mary? Why not the apostles who had much more influence and teaching? Doesn’t hold water.

@@mac8179 correct, thru the centuries Marian apparitions have been associated with the end of times. The revelation is usually to pray to her son so that when we die we can receive his mercy. 2023 years to God is but a blink of an eye. (MY end of times is when my body dies.) Mary is immaculate, unlike the apostles. Again, this is just my point of view, I'm sure there are experts on this topic.

Hi Isabel,I agree with you on repentance which is necessary if we are to be saved. But repentance is granted to us by God according to 2 Timothy 2:25.But no one can be saved by keeping the commandments. As Paul says;we are saved by God’s grace through faith in Christ, and not by works-Ephesians 2:8-10.I like to put it this way, good works will never produce true salvation ,but true salvation will always produce good works.Good works are the fruit of salvation but never the cause of salvation! Concerning the second coming of Christ, nowhere in the Bible is Mary sent back to warn of Christ’s second coming, today how we know about Christ’s second coming is through the revelation of Scripture and the signs of the times.I hope this has been helpful and May God bless you😀
