Stryker Pulley Install on the 07 Vstar 1300 Tourer

I was noticing a noise coming from the bike while I was moving it around in the garage. Also, on deceleration, it was making a whining noise. I decided to take the side cover off and noticed a lot of rust dust on the front pulley. After taking the drive belt off, I found out that either the spline shaft, the pulley, or both were worn. So, I decided to try just replacing the pulley. The OEM was on back order. I looked up one for a Stryker and they were in stock. I installed the pulley, and that seemed to fix the problem. take it apart again and add some Molykote to the end of the shaft, it'll reduce the wear, known as fretting, in the output shaft

You might have noticed the engine rpm's are lower now as the Stryker pulley has one more "tooth" than the V Star pulley, 30 versus 31 I think. Anyone with a belt drive motorcycle should be checking periodically that the front drive belt pulley nut is tightened to specifications or the transmission output shaft will be damaged beyond repair and will have to be replaced.

I did notice a difference with the Stryker pulley. I agree about periodically checking the front pulley. I'm glad that the output shaft splines weren't damaged beyond repair. Thanks for watching.

On my 2011 Stryker when I do a rear tire change, if I tighten the belt to spec it makes a horrible vibration noise from the pulley area. I have had to do it exactly the way you did to quite the vibration, and have read on the forums that others have had the same issue. The manual spec must be to tight.

Random but where did you get those things around your saddlebags?that attatch to the rear crash guards?

I bought the bike used and they were already on it. I'm not sure if they are oem or not.
