Both Sound Phenomenal. If I had to pick ( just for chorus sound - alone ) - I Prefer the Tri Avatar ( in a close call ). It sounded Warmer & Less Digital. ( you also Never put the Center Depth - On ? ). I'd love to see a Comparison vs. ( one of the Classic Killer Chorus Pedals of All Time ): Boss CE-1, Boss CE-2, Analogman, Tortuga Martini, Jam Waterfall, Red Witch or Retrosonic ? Thanks for another Great Video. I'm thinking about getting one, I only Wish it were Smaller. - Michael Caz - NYC -

The Mobius can do so much but the Tri Avatar wins on sheer tone. Makes me want to get my 80's Landau on. Thanks for making the demo!

Good demo, but I don't think you quite understood the depth controls. If you're in mono then the only knob that controls the depth is the left. If you're in stereo, the left, center and right can and should be set differently. The left, right and center depth controls are what gives the pedal the stereo tri-chorus sound, i.e., the three channels have different depths that make it sound "multidimensional" or rather as if there is more than one chorus pedal. Then having the mix set to 100% wet remove another dimension since both the left and right contrast with the dry sound and again give it a multidimensional sound. The only other critique I'd give is that the level should be kept at unity or you'll distort your signal - if Free the Tone is true to the Dytronics CS-5 circuit, it will distort. Having owned an original Dytronics CS-5 Tri-Chorus, the set up for the Free The Tone TA-1H Tri Avatar Multi-Dimensional Chorus Pedal is spot on - but instead of calling it the depth control, it's called intensity. The Dytronic CS-5 goes for well over $2,000. The Strymon Mobius is a great pedal, and its chorus is going for the tri-chorus sound and does a good job, but without the proper controls it's like a preset modeled copy of the CS-5 - good but sterile sounding. The only other chorus effect that comes close to the CS-5 is the Fulltone TERC, which is going for $1,439. The Free the Tone pedal is a steal at $350. As far as I can see, because it uses AC current, it might have more headroom. 0kay, but does it have usable sounds? That 80s tri-chorus sound is much maligned, but it's not because it doesn't sound rich. It was popular in the 80s or a reason. The point is that it was overused - still, RJ Ronquillo was obsessed with the sound. My sense is that someone like John Mayer is going to use it sparingly and this sound is going to be sought after again. And yes, it will be used again... it sounds too good not to be.

It will be great to see how these will compare to a Dytronics CS-5 for that Landau tri-chorus sound

Where can I hear recordings of Landau's tone? I met him in February. Very nice man, his live sound was unbelievable (he was with the Steve Gadd band). But I've never heard his legendary chorus tone in a studio recording

Somebody should do a demo of the Free The Tone Tri Chorus vs The Nunaber Inspire ( Tri Chorus)

I'm deciding between the two myself right now. They are both the favorites of all the chorus pedals I've heard so far

wow, the tri-avatar won, on sheer tone alone. both are clearly awesome though.

O efeito chorus é muito bom transmite muita vida e energia boa como outras modulações para a música e os nossos ouvidos não sei como alguém dizer que não gosta de choros mas no mundo tem de tudo

HW CR-7 used $50 comes damn close, and I have a Moog MF chorus and a Strymon Ola and a few others so I have some thing to compare it to.

Hi, what type of chorus did you use in Mobius? Multi? Why you cut the center depth in Tri Avatar?

Both are incredibly good sounding pedals..I use the Mobius

*You touched every knob on that Tri-Avitar a dozen times and left the CENTER KNON off and untouched; why? Is it because the Mobius would not be able to follow that move?*

FTT sounds better.. More low mids. Mob *is* very good tho. (And does a much more at a high level.) It's almost a different EQ thing.

The Mobius, like other big Strymon pedals, sounds cold compared to the warm musical tone of the Free The Tone pedal.

Mobius is extremely respectful of the input tone... if your tone is garbage it will remain garbage with chorus added. There's nothing there that will warm your tone like many so called vintage pedals. There's no need to emulate old devices imperfection. Mobius is a modern wonderful sound machine. Vintage pedals nerds cannot understand it. It is something for true musicians.

Thanks for posting and nice demo. However, the Mobius is a chorus, flanger, phaser etc...pedal. While Free The Tone is only a chorus pedal.

FTT определенно естественнее и глубже звучит, японцы молодцы. А саммерс это EHX дэлюкс электрик мистресс в определенной настройке... Протестировали бы его уже в новом исполнении XO)
