Awesome video! Thanks. I’ve been searching for a good looper with solid midi functionality and the ability to add delay before and/or after the looper. Even 11 years later this is the best option.

Amazing. The ability to loop post-delay is so cool alone, not to mention all this MIDI stuff. I have the Akai headrush, and it's a great pedal, but you can't do delay and loop at the same time, which holds it back.

Presets are recalled on both the TL and Mobius when you send the correct program change from your MIDI controller. We mapped our presets sequentially so for example, to recall preset 00A you need to send program change #0 from your MIDI controller. For preset 00B you need to send program change #1 and so on and so forth. So to recall two patches at once from the TL and Mobius, you need to make sure that they are both in the same preset location to be recalled from a singular program change.

If you work with a DAW you can sync the Timeline looper by getting the DAW to send out a PLAY message every four bars, or however long the loop is. I recorded a song in which both my Timeline and BigSky were fully automated by the computer, stacking reversed loops over and over in sync with my DAW until it was a wall of noise. these things can do anything.

Yes, sending a MIDI CC# 96 with any value will toggle between having the looper set to either Pre or Post delay effects.

The Timeline and Big Sky are awaiting money on my ever ending guitar shopping list. Last night I was thinking maybe I should shell out for a looper first as it's probably more useful for my band as I do have a decent delay & reverb but no looping ability, and hence gained a 4th new pedal back on my shopping list. By the time I went to bed I realised the Timeline has one so now it's just back to three but with the Timeline jumping back up in front of the BigSky! So many pedals and so little money (and space n the pedalboard)! ;-)
@Piplodocus10 жыл бұрын
BTW, to save me reading the manual, can you assign patch changes to the looper functions or are they fixed to particular MIDI CCs? I have a ground control, but use mine in the 10 presets, rather than 4 patch + 8 CCs modes I'm guessing is used in this video. That'd be nice as I don't want looper functions most of the time so like my 10 patches per bank setup. If I could change to a "loopy bank" that definitely beats having lots of unusable buttons for the large majority of my live sets!
@Piplodocus10 жыл бұрын
Piplodocus Don't worry, just read the manual. Guessing not from that, but I equally found the video of the instant easy way to enter looper mode with the built in buttons. Not the ultimate, but certainly super easy and probably enough for what I'll likely use a lot of the time. Shame I'd have to rule out the GC for the advanced functions and have to use a FCB1010 or something for bank specific extended functions (but that'd rule out the Voodoo labs pedal switcher/GCX so I'll stick with basic). Still, I can do more stuff easier than I'd originally hoped, so still a big win!

@strymon10 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback! Hopefully we can provide this in a future video. For now, you just need to assign the switches on your Ground Control to send the MIDI CC messages that control the TimeLine. These can be found on page 24 of the TimeLine's manual available on our website: www.strymon.net/documents/TimeLine_UserManual_REVD.pdf

The extended looper controls like Undo and Reverse can only be accessed via MIDI. They're not available in any of the menus on TimeLine. You can control the delay speed via an expression pedal or via MIDI on TimeLine. :)

Hi. I love the timeline, it sounds amazing! I've tried to copy this setup, using the fcb1010, followed all instructions for both the timeline and the controller, but the timeline doesn't receive the cc's that I'm sending. I assume that you have set it up with control changes!? I tried to send cc's from maxmsp to check that I'm sending the right commands to the timeline, which I do, but it still will not receive the commands. Both have the same midi channel and continuous controller are set to on...hmmmm. What am I missing? Hope you can help out, or make a more detailed video on this setup. All the best T
@strymon8 жыл бұрын
Hello +tordenblod, sorry to hear that you are having trouble with this. If the pedal is receiving the correct MIDI CC messages to control the loop on the MIDI channel it is set to, there is no reason it should not respond. One thing to note is that if the pedal is not set to LOOPER mode (holding down the TAP footswitch for a few seconds), you will not get any visual feedback from the TimeLine. Are you playing through the TimeLine when sending these MIDI messages to verify if it is working properly? Also, make sure that the BYPASS mode of the TimeLine is set to BUFBYP for the looper to work when your delay presets are bypassed. If you continue to have trouble, please send us an email to support@strymon.net with details on the settings and a recording of the MIDI messages being sent out of the FCB controller using a problem like MIDI Monitor (Mac) or Bome's SendSX (Windows) for us to verify that the messages are being sent correctly.

Fantastic demo. I have one question though: every demo of the Timeline looper that I see, the loops always have a delay effect on them. Is it possible to use the looper without a delay effect as well? Or only access some of the knobs, ie. Filter, Grit, & the modulation controls?

Hi, how do I know if it is possible to control the TIMELINE using the midi controller BOSS FC 50 or ROLAND FC 200? The timeline is compatible with boss FC50 or roland fc 200?
@strymon10 жыл бұрын
With any MIDI controller you plan on using with our pedals, it is important to verify that the controller can be programmed to send Program Change messages to change presets and MIDI CC commands to control the different parameters of the Strymon pedals. Check this in the manuals for the Boss and Roland controllers and follow the MIDI Reference section on page 24 of the TimeLine manual to program your controllers.

I have a Timeline with Strymon three switch remote. I have trouble getting a clear start and end to the loop, can this device help? Nice playing btw.
@strymon8 жыл бұрын
+PeregrineTrousers If you have the Strymon MultiSwitch, you should have instant access to the looper controls when EXP MD is set to LOOPER. A MIDI controller will not give you better timing control over your loops. If you need help with this, please shoot us an email to support@strymon.net with info on the problem along with a video that shows exactly how you are using the TimeLine with the MultiSwitch and how you time your presses to record and playback.
@PeregrineTrousers7 жыл бұрын
I think the problem maybe due to stopping the loop by hand. This is dictated by the way I have the imeline set up, so need a hands-free operation is essential. There is no metromone for tighter timing, I assume that's the purpose of a flashing LED. What is the duration of the loop time? Thanks G
@strymon7 жыл бұрын
+PeregrineTrousers The blinking LED on the TimeLine only provides a visual for the delay time and is not related to your loops. The total loop time is 30 seconds stereo or 60 seconds if set to HALF SPEED before recording with the MultiSwitch or sending a MIDI CC message that controls HALF SPEED. For best results, hit RECORD for the first note of the loop, then, hit PLAY the moment you want the riff to play back. So, if you are counting 4 beats per measure (1, 2, 3,4), hit RECORD on '1' of the first measure, then, hit PLAY on '1' of the next measure.

+Clayton Keibler The HALF/FULL SPEED toggle affects both the playback and recording of the looper at once. You can toggle this to HALF SPEED for one overdub and then toggle to FULL speed for a different overdub for interesting looping results.
