One of those main engines (2045) is now part of the SLS core stage. This is its first flight.

I was on top of the astronauts hall of fame watching this liftoff with my wife. We retired to our hotel that evening (Howard Johnson) which I had booked the top floor hoping to see an astronaut and low and behold John Glenn was in the hallway chatting two doors down from our room! We walked right past him. I kick myself for not interrupting. Besides we're from Ohio! The kicker was after we got into our room I turned on Jay Leno and they were running a skit about John Glenn in space with his walker! Of course later that year he did go up (Oct.). Small world!

I was there, 9 years old. Had to scrape my jaw off the ground with a shovel.
