In the real case, Loeb was similarly apathetic and more dedicated to the thrill of killing than his lover, and Leopold simply loved Loeb. Leopold and Loeb hatched a plan to commit the "perfect crime." It was not so much the idea of murder that attracted them, but the idea of getting away with murder. I urge any fan of true crime to research the case. It's an incredibly interesting one.

For all i could see Stu being in love with Billy (Billy most likely used that) I do think people are taking his campiness as him being gay.
