Man I would love for this album to officially release in some form, and would love to hear the ORIGINAL version of Synkronized. Hell, any unreleased music from 1998 Jamiroquai would gladly be appreciated.

Stuart doesn't need any band. Jamiroquai changed their sound when Stuart left'em. Stuart's still the same - one of the greatest bassists on the planet and a slapping master. He's a one man army just with his bass.

Stu's bass playing is like no other! He is my favorite bass player of all time! He's got a very unique and groovy sound. Stuart Zender, Jay Kay, and Toby Smith are the holy trinity of the peak Jamiroquai sound of the early to late 90s in my opinion. Stu's ability to come up with unique, upbeat bass lines that stick out while leaving room for the vocalist and other instruments to shine is perfect. His runs seamlessly flow with the music. Even on this solo project that had nothing to do with Jamiroquai, you can clearly hear how vital he was to the original Jamiroquai sound. The group never sounded the same after Stuart Zender left. Toby Smith's (RIP) departure was the final nail in the coffin in my opinion. Their new stuff sounds like a shell of the group's former self
@paulspringer4724 Жыл бұрын
... they'll never ever be the same again. The 2 most important components have gone, that unique groove can never be replicated. Lucky we still have their original works to access, they were amazing, and just perfect for that era/time.

It changed everything, that's for sure. The successive albums were not as strong, and his replacements tour around playing his lines but not as well. Paul Turner is a beast, but he's subbing. There would have been no Jamiroquai without Zender. Stuart used to be right up at the front of the stage with Jay. He was co-frontman.

THANK YOU! I completely agree! He added a classic funk quality that gives the music a vibe of perfection that's GOLDEN. I appreciated Jamiroquai SO MUCH for creating a TRUE FUNK in modern times when no one else was. I get so tired of the computerized techno/house noise. I've noticed a lot of this in their newer music. I still love Jamiroquai, but I'm totally nostalgic for their "desert-prancing" days. (I wonder if they did shrooms and jammed-up some beats out there.) Now it's all "fancy/fast cars", "party hoes" and "mansions". What happened to his messages about being good to Planet Earth and being HUMANE to fellow humans? (I guess he realized no one was able to accomplish the things he wished for, so I started drinking to cope... Who wouldn't..?)

@Maat922 You're spot on. In fact, Stu even pointed out (back then, when he had just left Jamiroquai) that Jay refused to properly credit all the members. If we go by what he said, Derrick, Simon Katz and him co-wrote MANY of the old hits and fan favourites (yet those are listed as "Jason Kay & Toby Smith" pieces only). Heck, most older fans speculate that even Nick Van Gelder wrote more of EOPE than we know (hence why that album sounds so different) before he got kicked out...

The first 3 Jamiroquai albums are indispensable because of Zenders bass playing. If you’re honest you’ll notice subsequent releases have a drop in quality especially the basslines. Zender had an inimitable groove, great timing and fantastic sound. Just saying!
@youfeelmee2 жыл бұрын
Sad that Stuart didn't show any results after dropping out of Jamiroquai. If it wasn't that distinctive groove he created, Jamiroquai would have never been to the next level. He just didn't survive after coming out of Jamiroquai. Jamiroquai needed him. But also Stuart needed Jamiroquai.

This just goes to show how much of a hand Zender WASN'T credited in the Jamiroquai liner notes for, just like has been alleged. This is what's been missing from jamiroquai all these years. It isn't the bass playing, anyone can hire a good bass player. It's the GROOVE that Zender brings to music. WHY ISN'T THIS AVAILABLE IN RECORD STORES WORLDWIDE??

I had some kid with the audacity to tell me (an original Jamiroquai fan when they started out back in '92) Paul Turner was better bass player than Zender (yeah, I know, right???) Agreed, anyone can keep the show running, but if you're bass man doesn't "SWING," what's the point? The funk brings the chills when you hear the "slap" and the "pluck." All three of those used together in tandem is what "WAS" Jamiroquai!!! These noveau cats just don't understand... Thank goodness for youtube, eh?
@zombiespaceman61284 жыл бұрын
While I think Turner has definitely come into his own over the past 8 years, and is undoubtedly Jamiroquai’s best bassist since Zender, but no matter WHAT, Zender will always be the bassist I think of when I think Jamiroquai. He just had a hand in too many of their best classic tracks to simply say he was “just the bassist”.
@poundsterring56132 жыл бұрын
Stuart is the wickest bass player in the name of Jamiroquai. I think that Turner it’s just the only late generation of Jamiroquai.

that guy from Bela Fleck’s band is an awesome bassist too considered one of the modern best. Alas I cannot remember his name. Anyways, plenty of room to expand the pie for many fantastic bassists in my opinion and each shall be entitled to their own preference. And I’ve observed over the years that when they are interviewed about other professional or famous musicians they usually give praise and respect to each other for their skills and do not bother beefing needlessly about best this or best that. Also, Davie 504!😅

Stuart loved to be in front and center in photography and video shooting. Fans of Stuart also loved it, they overestimated and misunderstood Stuart as a main character. Jay Kay was permitting that, but that might not had have to permit. Stuart's Ego gradually grew. He started to feel himself as a celebrity by making a child with a member of All Saints so he thought too absurd for him to work just only as Jay Kay 's bassist in Jamiroquai. That resulted in goodbye. As usually bass is a position where it is rarely in the limelight, the fans praised him specially, and he also wanted more money and a special praise higher than Jay. So he insulted Jay in interviews. Such excitement made him a special star in their world, but I think it is not that so special. Without Jamiroquai, Stuart has been generally not noticeable. Becky Gulla You should listen to Incognito. I sometimes miss the round warm sound of bass guitar while listening to Jamiroquai, but it is from the album version of Space Cowboy. I don't mean Stu's. Jamiroquai has increased variations. The past era has passed. I think that Stu should put out his own album with his own full ability soon.

As a fan from 1992 I know Jaykay and Stu had their ego bust up all those years ago but time is a healer. The old team should all get back and do a one time tour with all the albums. Then we can hear if the newer songs where Zander takes over are any better sounding? They were the dream team and Jay with Stu were idolised equally from what I recall. It almost feels at that time they were just one big soul together. Now the soul is fractured but can be fitted together again to give us and them the magic of the nineties. Personally I listened on a cd player doing my work as a journo,keeping me grounded and happy for each assignment. I dont think musicians realise how much they affect people's lives? Send an email Stu to the rest of the band and get back with your pal as 'time won't wait for you!'
