Good method, as long as there's enough brass sticking out to hold in the vise. Last one I got stuck was all the way in the die and the rim ripped off on the downstroke; next to nothing left to grab onto. That's when the drill-and-tap procedure is needed.

1/4-20 and a spacer...yup. Never seen that much sticking out before, always buried.

wowowowowowowowowowowow, you are my hero... 4 * 223 Remington full length die got stuck because I use a lot of range cases. Now all dies get back to the press after I watch this video.

I've been hand loading since the 1980s and have never had a stuck case. That said, it is nice to know how just in case. Thanks.

finally someone who does this without drilling. I do the same but I turn the die with a wrench to loosen the case and then tap the die rearward with a leather mallet to remove it from the neck expander..

Worked perfectly!! had a stuck case in an RCSB die that doesn't allow your to remove the decapping pin from the top.. so couldn't use stuck case removal tool.. actually ordered another die to replace then came across this video..

Thank you! You saved me from buying a new die. 5th brass I inserted into my decaping die got stuck tight. It was 300 aac brass, so I didn't have much to grab with the vise, so I screwed a screw into the primer pocket and locked the vise down onto the screw. The rest of your method worked like a champ. Whew.

You're not using enough lube. I found that if you use a small tubing cutter ($12) to cut the case in two everything comes apart easily. I will have to try this guy's technique the next time

Wow...this is ingenious and the most simple method I've seen yet. Makes me almost want a stuck case so I can try it out...almost... Love that it involves no drilling or tapping! I use Hornady Unique lube/sizing wax. It's very similar to Imperial but less expensive...

Cory Landers nice! Glad it helped. It's helped me quite a bit until I started using Imperial Sizing Die Wax. The stuff is amazing! The range where I collect brass is SUPER sandy and is murder when it comes time to size, even after tumbling I find sand lodged in some shells, but a good amount of the wax works wonders. They say 'use sparingly', but I have to use more than most folks as it will still stick in the die if I'm not careful.

There's nothing smoother than the Dillon Stuck Case removal feature on their 223 sizing die... That said, I like the Hornady and RCBS removal kits that extract via a drilled and tapped case head. If you don't have a vise, that might be your best bet.

Haven't had one stuck...yet. But using the massive threads already on the the die looks much easier then tapping the casing. :D

you will have a better chance of removing the stuck case using the tap versus damaging the de capping pin and or ex pander ball... if you crush the case at the base and it does not come out, then the real problems begin....

I have a 1/4 :20 tap, drill ,bit and bolt/washer next to my press. It doesn't happen often, but when it does, I'm only down for 3 minutes tops

Nice to know but I’m thinking most stuck cases don’t protrude nearly that far, possible tho you could still get a hold on the case head, hope I’ll never have to use it

I just used a old lee decaping pin that the pin was broken off two small taps with a mini ball peen hammer from harbor freight and presto out and back in business

Buy a good set of open and box wrenches and ditch crescent wrench. I know they work, but to big of a chance to round over the hex on the nut.

why can't you do that while on the press? the brass is held by the shellholder.

I don't have any experience with this (yet) but I've watched lots of videos of several different methods. Often with a stuck case the shell holder has been ripped off the base head, usually damaging the brass. Also the die needs to be able to freely move up as you turn the lock ring down with the crescent. If it's threaded into a press it can't move upward freely.

Why not make sure that you are truly saved by Jesus Christ and practice this way. Remorsefully confess with your heart your sins to Jesus Christ who is God and tell Him that you right now are repenting of your sins and you want to be born again of the Spirit from above. Tell Jesus that you are remorsefully sorry for breaking His commandments and that you are begging for forgiveness from Him. Allow His blood from the cross to wash away your sins. After this is done with your heart successfully the Holy Spirit will come to live within you and He will rebuild you from the inside out. Look for signs that you are saved. Things like spreading the good news from Jesus, getting other people saved, a craving for the word of God, reading the Bible, etc… These things are known as a calling and fruit bearing. If you're not bearing fruit then keep doing it. Sometimes it takes time to get saved. Read Matthew chapter 13 from the King James Bible. God bless!!!
