Guys. All you need to do is break the seal. In a pinch, kinda squish the buckets a bit, twist one, and pull. Once you break the seal, the vacuum youve been fighting disappears.

The thing I love most about this story is that he still used the top bucket despite it being stuck to anther bucket. Guys probably have an affinity towards items that are judged for their utilitarian purpose. It's like saying "I know you're a little broken, but you're still useful!". I mean, if you learn how things happen. It's pretty easy to make them unhappen. Buckets stay together because of air pressure holding them together, so find a way to add more air to the space between them.

To be fair, it makes total sense. There's a reason compressors and their periphrials are measured in pressure per square inch. The pressure of the compressed air itself, along with the air expanding once it gets warmed up, results in a pretty decent amount of upward pressure against the top bucket, forcing it in the only direction it can go, which is up and away from the other bucket. And for those wondering why the air is cold inside the compressor, that's purely to do with the fact a compressor has a vacuum chamber inside, which is how the air is compressed down to the pressure it's rated for.

it's actually a lot more simpler than that - he is adding air to a limited space, when all available space is gone, the pressure just pushes the top bucket loose, kinda like over-inflating a balloon, eventually it pops, nothing to do with temperature of the air

When I managed restaurants, I always mentioned that a hole or two on the sides of trash cans near the bottom was crucial or it would be very hard on your body to try and pull bags out after high volume services. It works better when you use the oxy/ac torches. Fill it with gas first then light it.. They instantly come apart. Just make sure you wear your welders mask, gloves and bib.. Oh and have a fire extinguisher ready.. You know what.. use the compressed air instead.

When I worked at the Dunkin’ Donuts factory,we had to spray the floors nonstop with water from a hose every morning, we also would spray buckets for the donut makers, we learned that if we sprayed water in between buckets that were stuck they would come apart easily!

I had the same issue a few times. I solved it by putting the lower bucket in a bigger bucket with hot water. The air between the two buckets warms up and expands. It will not pop up but you can pull the top one out fairly easy. But don't put hot water in the bottom and then put a second bucket on top. That will be a nightmare after cooling down.

I used to work in an ice cream sandwich factory and this is exactly how we were taught to pull buckets apart. The buckets we had were mainly for ice cream waste so we got the buckets with honey all the way around the inside. Basically, they were all glued together. The only way to get them apart was by blowing compressed air into them. Anyways, its a neat trick that more people should know.

million dollar tip. Always put a tiny wood shim in between your buckets before you stack them. Now you dont have to lug around an air compressor to unstick your buckets. Your welcome.

Oh people that work on boats with a hot water barrel. With this problem. Put your buckets in the hot water for like 30sec to a min. They will come right apart.

This is because when the buckets get stuck, it creates a partial vacuum, and the air pressure from outside the bucket is pushing it in. However, with the air pump, you are filling in the partial vacuum, and even making the pressure higher than outside, allowing them to separate.
